Ya'know I need to verify. I haven been so tired and overwhelmed with work that I didn't question the info when I got it. My source said Toon Lagoon was set for a refurb and mentioned Sony Animation but also mentioned Ice Age for Dudley Do Right (I voiced my displeasure because I love Dudley, even though I know next to nothing about the character). I didn't even think to question that Ice Age is Blue Sky - not Sony.

Perhaps they have their hands in both and will make a comprehensive Toon area? They certainly wouldn't have misspoken about it. How great would an area be that included Ice Age, Rio and Cloudy?

They said that the area had languished for long enough and needed to be "blown up". They also said they were looking at a bunch of things though (and I didn't press).

Thanks for the info that you can provide.

Sorry for the confusion. It replaced Arctic Express. The interior is pure generic, strip mall SB. The exterior's problem is the standard green Starbucks sign. Textbook Walmarting. http://micechat.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/IMG_1146-610x409.jpg

If we're going to hold Disney's feet to the fire (which most definitely should be done), Uni has to get called out too.
Many did not have issues with Starbuck's infiltrating WDW. Yes, there were some Starbucks haters but, in general, the view was that WDW coffee was pretty bad.

No one said squat about Starbucks new Epcot location.

However, in the world of theme parks, MSUSA is holy ground. Overwhelmingly, the protests against Starbucks centered on its invasion of MSUSA.

Port of Entry (POE) has an impressively themed exterior. However, many of the interiors of the POE shops are cookie cutter.

In POE, I'm more bothered by the Starbucks exterior than its interior. To that extent, you're right. Uni should be held to the same standard.

WDW: More morbidly obese per square foot than any other vacation destination on the planet! Instead of remembering the MAGIC, how about remembering the caloric intake?
Gosh, and you had been doing so well lately. Just can't resist the opportunity to put another human being down regarding physical appearance and how it is so repulsive to you. Please stick to concerning yourself about how all the theme parks in the world are run, and let everyone else take care of their own business. It makes you sound so, well, shallow and makes some wonder to what degree of depth you actually view other things.

What you call a "kiddie coaster" actually looks to be the best themed family coaster on the planet. Pandora will open around the same time Avatar 2 opens, I think it will all work out fine.

At the end of the day...it is still a kiddie coaster. It seems that Disney tends to use themeing to hide considerable underwhelming attractions these days. If only the Mermaid ride itself was half as good as the queue. If the food at Be Our Guest was half as good as the rock work, the bridge and entire surrounding area. Also, decide if you are full service or quick service. Bring me my food but I have to get my own drinks? What is the point?

You could also say DIsney has the world's best themed meet and greet backdrops....>sigh<. I could go on. No substance.

i agree with your statement but ill say it differently...Disney is emphasizing themeing more than innovation right now
as far as the kiddie coaster thing, to me its supposed to be a kiddie/family coaster and theres nothing wrong with it.... my 10 year old daughter is pumped to ride it this summer... for me id rather be on gringotts or TOT

I have a challenge for you Goofyernmost. Not trying to take sides but I challenge you to go work City Hall for one day and remain sane the way you are treated because an overweight victim is chewing your because they are a "victim." Getting bitched out and taking a complaint from a guest that wants Disney to REDESIGN and REBUILD Splash and Space because they cannot fit in the log/train. By the way this is a daily occurrence not an isolated event. I challenge you to go work strollers & wheelchairs for one day listening to people talk about how that ECV is their ticket to not have to wait asking for an attachable basket to hold their 62oz. Big Gulp from the 7-11 on 192 they stopped at for doughnuts and cigarettes on the way to the park.

I do not think he put someone down as much as @WDW1974 speaks the truth. It is a FACT that Disney caters to the obesity epidemic. Don't believe me? Go to DAK. When you enter Discover Island take a look at the edges of the walkways. Notice the defined seam in the concrete? Notice the color difference? They "had" to widen the access due to the increased number of wheelchairs and ECV's. WDW has become the Wal Mart of theme parks. When kids are old enough to walk...let them walk.

It is a real problem.

I agree that there is nothing necessarily wrong with a kiddie coaster. I think the problem is with the company in which it was pointed out that EPCOT Center was built in the same amount of time or less. They will also showcase (or try to) 7DMT on the same level as Potter. No comparison. In my opinion there is no comparison between Potter and New Fantasyland as a whole. There is no continuity in the land. They didn't even fix one of the biggest lingering problems the overall land suffered from since day one. The transition from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland. Amazing if you walk from Teacups to the new area to the castle to Peter Pan/IASW then Tangled toilets you will have experienced five different "feels" of the same overall theme and not in a good way. A true "NEW" Fantasyland would have encompassed an updated facelift for the entire land in addition to the expansion.

There was a lot of talk about the implementation in EPCOT... it was just less than MSUSA because of two points
1) What it replaced... no one gave a crap about the ice cream location in EPCOT
2) By the time the EPCOT location happened, all the energy from the community had been spent and the arguments played out.

just wanted to point out that i agree with what you said

my biggest issue with this is the amount of time it took to build it...

I had the "pleaseure" of visiting City Hall on Saturday afternoon. I was there to buy a Tables in Wonderland Card, but had the pleasure of listening to most of the others in line asking each other questions about guest assistance. I have never seen so many scooters in one place. There were some parent and grandparents with special needs children, a lady with a back brace, a guy in a cast, and some over weight people. I decided it was not my place to judge any of them - but for anyone who wants to complain just go watch guest relations for like 10 minutes and see for yourself. Some are real issues and some....well, if there is an advantage they will exploit it.

It is also hard to take some guests serious when they literally have chocolate all over their mouth while asking for a "front of line pass."

Spirited Minion anecdote of the day ...

WDW is having a charity bowl-a-thon. CMs who volunteer to help out have been told they will NOT get a T-shirt for their trouble if they got one for helping out last year.

Billions in profit, they won't give volunteers (who make maybe $8/hour when they aren't donating their time) a cheaply made T-shirt. And people wonder why CM morale seems at an all time low.

He may speak the truth but the disdain that is used to describe people that are overweight is not necessary, nor did it fit anywhere in that post. While we are at it, are you telling me that it is only fat people that are a pain in the butt. Have you ever had to deal with the embarrassment of being looked down on as being imperfect and not aesthetically pleasing to the folks that somehow determine a persons worth by their size. If not, try it.

I do not disagree with the "let them walk" statement, in fact my kids never saw a stroller again after the age of four. I am overweight and have knee issues due to an accident. I still walk the parks, but to just look at a person and decide that they are "morbidly obese" and it is all their fault, is shallow as well as incorrect. I am assuming by your post that you are thin. How about if everyone started to look at thin people and assume that they are all doing cocaine. Would that be considered alright by the "fat people have no reason to live" crowd? Overweight people are beaten down to the point that they have a feeling of having a zero net worth. When that happens the comfort that they might take (food) is the only friend they feel that they have. Try living with that for awhile. If you are perfect and have no vices or addictions of any kind, then I apologize, you are a unique individual.

Yes it is shallow, but unfortunately that's how society thinks these days...
