What? Did you miss the part where EVERY universal project is coming in SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than any WDI project? It has gotten to the point that even OLC has gotten fed up with WDI's shady budgets. They threw a fit when they got the bill for cloning Toy Story Midway Mania in Disneysea and saw what they got for the money.

And how is that anything new, Neo? WDI is always more expensive ... sorta like staying at the Poly next week for $500+ when you can stay at the Waldorf-Astoria for $269.

OLC has a lot of issues with WDI as well. Two different subjects. Although I would think they'd be thrilled with the performance of TSMM ... not that I am likely to ever ride it. Four and five hour waits by locals who love the thing ... just bless their hearts as I go on the 'good stuff'.

It's the manner of how they allocate resources to placate the soccer mommys and speshul snowflakes. They throw hundreds and hundreds of shifts worth of CMs to character greets every day. If you visit another resort there's nowhere near this much labor tossed at greetings. Seeing Goofy at Tokyo would be a chance encounter. In FL Goofy is on the times guide at all 4 parks. I'm some cases continuous from open to close. In multiple rooms yet.

Because Mommy Bloggers and arrested development adults love them ... and Disney realizes that even having MANY Mickey's onstage at the same time (something that was always a NO-NO!) costs considerably less than paying real entertainers and staging ... well, stage shows.

Clarification please! I heard last week that the ferries from the PO, SS and OKW are not stopping at DTD pier for an extended period but will land at the Pleasure Island pier. Will the marinas still be open for the ferries? Or is this just like CS, where they are taking out the rental boats?

Transport isn't affected.

Bottom line is.

No more boat rentals at all these resorts, so one can now look back and say 'I remember when ...'

Every day or two, against my better judgement I relent and peek at CM pay increase thread. I agree and believe many quickly forget how they got to where they are today. Those who take their blessings for granted are those who are the most likely to kick others feet out when they are struggling to climb a single step on a ladder.

The naive ignorance is pretty wide spread and demonstrates history does indeed repeat itself, oppression just morphs it never fails to exist.

I'm staying away from there because I just don't want to have that debate ... it is actually painful that people who ostensibly are doing well for themselves wish to pass judgment on those who haven't had their advantages.

I am quite talented. I have been quite successful. I have accomplished things that many could only dream of ... BUT I will never say I did it alone. Or that I got there simply by hard work and talent (those two things mean very little today and meant only slightly more in the 90s).

I did it because of an amazing and supportive family and great friends ... and even some colleagues. I did not do it alone. It's laughable when people say they did ... anyone.

This is the longest hiatus since Al's handover. I guess there just isn't much to talk about, or no one to talk to them about it... :bored:

I predict a column tomorrow. If not, with all the closures at DLR ...well, that speaks to their source faucet being turned off or their being skittish after some of what they have run in the last year took heat.

Again, anyone here want to defend the sending of flashdrives to guests for MM+? Anyone ...
A friend in the services once told me about his group of guys receiving flash drives. Which were immediately taken back after they were larger than stated on the outside.

Many younger WDW fans don't realize that at one time, every special effect worked on every attraction, it was easy to walk into a restaurant, meals included custom napkins and after-dinner chocolates, and the landscaping was impeccable. In other words, it operated as a world-class entertainment resort, not a hyper-planned way to live a Disney life.

To the lifestylers: as much as you love it now, it used to be so much better.

I think if fanbois can blindly love a BRAND, then I can love a post.

You nailed the WDW 'situation' in one short paragraph. Well done, my friend. Very well done.

Yeah, I hope there is an Al Lutz column tomorrow. I just chalked it up to the winter blahs and a post-Cars Land lull, but it seems to be about two weeks late now.

It would be nice if Lutz could follow up on some stuff that was supposed to happen this winter, like the Soarin' HD rehab, the Mermaid show upgrades, etc. And I wonder when Thunder Mountain will reopen?

If there's no Al Lutz column tomorrow, then that's a problem.

To their credit, the best service I've received on property was at Art of Animation. I've stayed at all 3 monorail resorts, all 3 Epcot deluxe resorts, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and a few moderates. The CM quality matters more than the hotel level.

I don't know where I have received best services on property ... have had very good experiences at both Lodges and Port Orleans (the REAL one) ..., although I also had one of the worst experiences there when I was told to leave my room in the middle of Hurricane Wilma because they weren't giving late check-outs (just stayed there until 4 p.m. anyway and I tend to think I just dealt with one kid in over his head).

But I have had some very bad experiences at POP, ASMu and BC that all resulted in me raising my usually quiet, calm, professional voice and screaming at people, including managers.

Honestly, if Al isn't writing the columns, I don't give two s**** what Dusty and the others have to say. They aren't reliable sources, as they've proven over and over again. I'm sick of the columns and the BS.

I wish! But for some reason TDO treats Dumbo like it's the best movie ever made. I'm still upset that they were so intent on keeping Dumbo that they themed a land around it. Imagine a frozen land taking over. Could be pretty awesome and would actually fit the bill of fantasyland. SC has no place in Fantasyland IMO.

And just rip down the SC entrance sign it's freakin hideous!

Funny how Disney sorta ignores the racist stereotypes in Dumbo, yet keeps Song of the South locked away (likely in the same vault as ABC's The Path to 9/11 series) for the same thing.

Don't let my Dumbo-obsessed friend or Mrs. Tom Amity Corless (who had another amazing tweet involving a female part that I would love to place here in Fun With Tweets, but would likely disappear because apparently female genitals are evil and wrong -- I just swear I felt a breeze from 90% of Disney fanbois shaking their heads in agreement!) hear this, but I have never been much of a Dumbo fan. Don't like circuses much ...
