Which is just a variation on something sold in The Land back in the 80s ... few things are truly new.

Land pavilion Handwiches were actually quite tasty (for a while you could also get them at what is now a hot dog stand under the Astro Orbiter).

Indeed, I sometimes will make a Spirited version at home when I have bread that is getting old and veggies, meat and cheese I can cut up (dice and slice) and fill it up.

Tron Legacy IS a good film.
You really missed something special not seeing it when it was originally released...in glorious IMAX 3D.
FANtastic experience in the theater and the crisp IMAX images and atmospheric dimentional effects were great.

:)

UGH!!! Tron Legacy was many things ... a good film wouldn't be one. What a boring, incoherent mess ... sure it looked good. But I've seen plenty of beautiful people that have nothing beyond their looks.
Hell, it made the original film look great by comparison.

I've seen your complaints about podcasts and, be warned, I embody just about all of the most common criticisms. I'll be the first to admit that; even I can't listen to myself on a podcast. Not to dissuade you from listening...just don't come back complaining that my voice is monotone and I'm not an engaging speaker.

Well, to be fair, I doubt the Parkscopers are scintillating speakers. I've wanted to meet Michael for years, Sean has his issues with me (for what I am not quite sure since we think very alike on most things related to the parks) and I don't have a clue who the other two dudes even are.

I just would be interested in hearing what you had to say. I may try and listen again over the weekend, although I have loads of reading to be done.

Ha, thanks. I still enjoy recording a podcast and unlike some others around here, so it doesn't bother me. I don't think a podcast needs to be this ultra-polished, broadcast-caliber type deal. Most of my favorite podcasts are just informal conversations among friends, recorded. I think the medium lends itself to that...but that's just me.

I've said many times that my issue with podcasts is that they tend to give a level of legitimacy to folks who shouldn't have more than ... well, how you put it ... informal conversations among friends. It's the same with self-publishing. Just because every/any one can put out a book, doesn't mean that every/any one can write.

I guess it's like @jakeman's new pal @flynnibus says when I criticize Twitter: it's not the medium, it's who's using it and how they are using it.

TDO has little say in this. The decision will come from the top. Maybe not that much better, but Iger did buck up for DCA in a lot less favorable economic climate.

NO. NO and NO!!!

The climate still appeared fine when the funds were allocated back in 2007. I was told by someone VERY high up the food chain that if Disney had waited another 6-8 months to make that allocation that we'd still be entering DCA through those giant letters while listening to "Do You Know The Way to San Jose?'' and ''I Love LA'' blasting near the giant sun hub.

Just chew on that.

Speaking of the ''Disney toilet scene'' ... have we ever talked (here) about the 'my stall or yours?' issues that Disney has had at various locales including FW, YC CC and water parks? Can you see Soup & Salad Sandra delving into that dirty detail of Disney MAGIC?

Oh Dear! I've been visiting WDW since it opened when I was a tiny kid. How I've managed to miss this with everything else I've seen. The things I've learned on your threads. My My!

Disney paying lip service to a cause celebre while actually acting in manners inconsistent with said causes in its actual operations? Yeah, it hasn't been the first time and certainly won't be the last.

Still doesn't make me think that this one food item is somehow 'Walmarting' or 'state fair' caliber, as has been suggested in this thread. I don't doubt that it's awful (all of the cones I've tried have been) and/or unhealthy, but that wasn't my point...

Not sure what your point was, but the mac n cheese debate is one topic on this thread that I am sorta only paying attention with about six percent of my brain.

I think as a food item you can't get more Walmart than mac n cheese ... and I don't care if you add Lobster or Truffle Oil ... or Bacon and Jalapenos ... it's still children's food.

I have never liked the stuff, never thought it was worth the health issues (instead of say a great big burger or deep dish pizza) and don't really care that it's a 'comfort food' (for some reason that whole phrase makes me angrier than the typical WDW guest!)

You didn't share a full story on that one yet..

First movie I've dragged people to go see.. in I don't recall how long (decades at least).

I did somewhere. So, short version here:

But I loved the film. Most fun I've had the movies in a long time. Just a general great way to spend a summer night.

Great characters. Pratt was terrific (as anyone who has watched him on Parks and Rec would expect). The soundtrack couldn't have been better if I picked it (I need to get it ... you know on an actual compact disk like we did in ancient times when records and cassette tapes became as passe as an iPhone3 today). And I even loved the spoiler at the end that some dolt here ruined for me.

One minor quibble: the Marvel cliche of a final drawn out, fake looking due to CGI, massive battle in the sky above a cityscape where thousands of people would have died as a result of massive ships smashing into structures ... but beyond that, the film was fantastic and I am looking forward to a sequel.

The only reason I have any interest in the new Avengers film is because (being a network teevee guy and all) I realize what an amazing actor James Spader is.

The wheels came completely off on the economy in September of 2008 so, yes it was after the project was approved but well before main construction started. It still could have faced cutbacks or I guess more cutbacks then it had.

Disney as a company and P&R in particular is in much better shape today than it was in 2007 which was only several years removed from the tourism downturn after 9/11. Investing heavily in a major theme park expansion today would be a much less risky decision.

I alot of people would be puzzled why anyone over the age of 12 would want to go to Disney World.
Apples and Oranges my friend, Apples and Oranges. But, I believe I said whatever floats ones boat. So I think that would apply to me as well, don't you think? I put that in there to convey that I personally feel that way about Marvel... feel free to deal with it anyway you like.

And that IS what happened 4-5 weeks ago when the system went dead at all four parks. Anyone with anything resembling Disney ticket media was allowed entry 'for free' ... because a $2 billion plus program was built with NO BACKUP. Please, someone try and defend this ... I'm in the mood. Go ahead.
I'll try... NextGen has allowed Disney to remain competitive with Universal without having to get into a costly attraction building war.

Jim Hill once claimed that for years, the AA Pistoles, Carioca, and Donald figures from the Mickey Mouse Revue have been sitting backstage from their use at the Mickey Mouse revue during its Tokyo run, just waiting to be installed.
According to him, the only reason they haven't been put into the ride is that no one wants to budget the money for the installation/programming.

Can anyone confirm?
