(Return to Main Thread)

Deep within the ruins of the fortress on Explorer’s Point at Porto Paridiso, the ghosts of the founders of the Society haunt the halls. Leonardo Da Vinci, Marco Polo, and Ferdinand Magellan judge all new recruits to ensure that the future of S.E.A. is in good hands.

After each Stanza, the project manager of the losing team will be sent to the Fortress of Fate for judgement. They will have to choose two teammates to take with them to the fortress. In addition, the hosts may nominate more. If you are inactive without an excuse, if you under-deliver on promised work, if you coast on your teammates’ efforts…

Prepare to be sent to the Fortress...

The ghosts will ask questions about the stanza and the players that have been sent to the fortress will have to defend themselves. If the players that have been summoned do not answer the questions in a satisfactory way OR if they do not respond within 24 hours, they will be eliminated from the game.

A Note on Timing
All projects will be due at 11:59 PM WDW Time. The day following that will be reserved for reviews, with results announced at
(Roughly) 8:30 PM WDW Time. Following that, if need be, the Founder's Ghosts of the Fortress of Fate will be summoned to pass judgement.

While defendants will have 24 hours to make their plea, winning teams shall be rewarded with the next Stanza’s prompt.

The losing team shall not receive its prompt until the Founder's Ghosts have passed a verdict. This gives winning teams a 1-day head start, but with 7-9 days per prompt there is plenty of time to catch up.

With only 24 hours to go before the first Stanza begins, let's see some examples of how the Fortress of Fate will go...

CASE 1

Outbound was part of the losing team. He was the Project Manager for the team and wasn’t all that organized. The role of PM simply proved too complex at this stage.

The project was to design a replacement for new park bench for EPCOT. The project finished on time, but it was so disorganized it ended up taking up a full 84 pages.Yikes!

Judge Question
Outbound, you were PM this round and it kinda fell apart...however you did show effort in your attempts to take on a lot of the work as the leader. For a future opportunity as a Project Manager, what would you do differently to bring the team together?

ANSWER
I would take everyone's schedule into account. We would create a work timeline early, with 2-3 dedicated to presentation. If things get overwhelming next round, I would probably use a vacation day or two. Lastly, I should be honest with my teammates, and tell them if I won’t be able to finish everything I took on.

Here Outbound shows that he wants to use this temporary setback as a learning experience for himself and his team. He is likely to improve.

CASE 2

Outbound was part of the losing team. He wasn’t active on the brainstorming thread, and only completed a restroom design (strangely themed towards animal dung). He later apologized to the group and claimed to have been busy… after the project was done.

The project was to design a new land for Animal Kingdom, but the project revolved around extinct Ice Age animals. The bathroom doesn’t flow with the rest of the project.

Judge Question
Outbound, while you definitely have talent, recently you’ve been doing less and less. If you remain in the competition, will you play a larger role for your team or will you continue to slack?

ANSWER
I am really sorry about this round. As I said in the group PM, real life got in the way. But luckily things are back to normal now, and I want to keep playing. I know I’m far from the best player here, but I don’t want to stop now, so I would really appreciate another shot.

Here Outbound admits his mistakes and asks for another shot. Although we can’t always guarantee this trick works, it will most likely lead to a second chance. But don’t try it more than once!

CASE 3

Outbound was part of the losing team and he was inactive, the second time in a row. He has been liking other team’s posts, but never replying. Outbound accepted the work of “presentation” this week (regarding a very confusing indoor mall), but all he did was copy paste to this unformatted google doc!

Judge Question
Outbound, you haven’t been participating for the past two rounds. Where everyone else nominated at least participated, you’ve skated past with a win-streak team. Is there anything that would make us reconsider our doubts towards your activity?

ANSWER
- Does not respond –

In order to stay in the competition, you have to give a response. If you don't then it's automatic.

CASE 4

Outbound was part of the losing team but was an active brainstormer. Unfortunately they didn’t accomplish much work (just this robot pram thing), and were nominated here. The cast is getting tighter now, and meager workloads aren’t cutting it, even if they are completed on time to okay standards.

Judge Question
Outbound, you’ve been at it with brainstorming, but have less to show for actual work. We know real life is getting in the way - kudos to telling your team at the start of the stanza - but is there any chance you are going to accomplish more next time

ANSWER
Honestly, no. This competition is a ton of fun, but my exams are too important for me to miss out on. Ideally I would keep playing with my limited time, but I understand if I need to be eliminated in favor of some of the more active contestants here.

This is the difficult middle ground scenario. Outbound wants to remain, but this feels like a semi-goodbye response. The judges’ decision would be somewhat contextual. If there is another nomination that doesn’t reply or gives an unsatisfactory answer, they’ll stay. But if the rest are active, then...

Decision – Eliminated

Stanza I Session

Team Yesterday, as the losers of Stanza I, the Ghosts of those that founded S.E.A. will determine if you shall remain in the game.

Usually, the Project Manager would be summoned here and be told to nominate two others to join them, but this is a special case.

@tcool123 has decided to step down from the competition. He unfortunately does not have the time to contribute and didn't want to continue the game if he couldn't do it justice. He will be missed.

He may not be the only elimination this stanza though.

This is the way their journeys in this game comes to an end. Not with a bang, but a whimper. Well... Not really a whimper either.

@Sam4D23 @Flippin'Flounder you have been eliminated from the Sorcerer's Apprentice Season 6 due to inactivity.

3 Agents have been eliminated in Stanza I.
18 S.E.A. recruits remain.
1 among them will be the Sorcerer's Apprentice.
The other 17 will go on to be eliminated.

The Founder's Ghosts resume their slumber,

but will be back at a later date.
Work hard this next Stanza or risk

being sent to the Fortress of Fate!

Stanza II Session

Team Fantasy, as the losers of Stanza II, the Ghost of those that founded S.E.A. will determine if you shall remain in the game.

Usually, the Project Manager - oh wait. We said this last stanza. So far the Project Managers have never been called... whatever. The three of you have been summoned here for the same reason - inactivity.

You only commented twice this Stanza. This likely won't cut it moving forward. So we've got the same question as Brer - moving forward, will you be more active? Anything preventing you from doing so?
I am here, I’ve been listening in, but it seems the curse has come up again.

Whenever I participate in something, start a project, or even host something, I all of the sudden get bombarded with schoolwork and have a very limited schedule.

So, you can do whatever you wish. You can eliminate me and I’ll be fine with that or you can keep me in, and I’ll try to be more active.

Because school/life always comes first, one way to help in the future is by just letting your teammates know in the PM your circumstances. You could be following along but your teammates would have no way of knowing that unless you send a quick status update message. From there your team can give you a small portion of the project so you can still be involved.
