In lieu of Stanza XIII reviews as so much has been said already and I don't want to skim the final projects (will get to them eventually) - this will be a cumulative review just based on what I've seen throughout the season from all the semi-finalists.
In no particular order we start with
@TwilightZone who was one of the few active teammates with my on Team Supers (remember that was a team?) While the time on Supers was short-lived, I could already sense a bit of a change in her style from Season 4 and prior imagineering competitions. Something was going to click, it would just take time and effort. Sure enough she tried some new things and even developed some art skills along the way - her projects are more resonant and she's learned how to expand on simple ideas into more well-rounded projects.
Then my winding journey through Season 5 took me to Team Princes to met up with semi-finalists
@Pi on my Cake @Disney Dad 3000 @PerGronStudio and
@Evilgidgit --- while Stanza II ended up being ranked the best project of the season in the awards, it was not without its brainstorming pitfalls, as this ragtag group was essentially the imagineering version of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Some very accomplished and seasoned veterans in Pi and Disney Dad mixed in with newcomers PerGron and Evil fresh off their finalist appearances in One Little Spark. What I found most endearing about this team's journey was that despite multiple rounds of projects that felt disjointed, eventually everyone learned how to mix as a team creating again another stellar project with Legoland New York in Stanza IV. It was then that everyone began to realize that Sorcerer's Apprentice isn't just doing your own thing, it's about working together to accomplish a common goal. How I knew this was successful was when I left, post-Stanza V, the team continued to gel together and push the envelope of team unity.
Speaking of Stanza V it was my first encounter with the styles of
@Outbound and
@James G. While Outbound I worked with the least throughout the game (just this one round) I could tell that there was a spark waiting to unleash - you had the drive and just needed the outlet for it. I will say that your semi-finals project was one of the first I read. Was blown away. One of the most incredibly put together projects the game and the forum has seen. And for James, that transitions right into Stanza VI - X on Team Warriors with the final semi-finalist
@NateD1226
With Warriors, after the early exits of Sorcerer's Apprentice legends such as MonorailRed and Vox, there was a vacancy on the team that needed to be filled and that was leadership. Early on in Stanza VI, VII...and so on - there was a spot of leadership that I really wanted to see Nate take hold of. As a talented young gun in the game, you really grow once you're put into that leadership role and take off with it. In Stanza IX - Nate did just that and in my opinion made one of the largest leaps in personal skill building in this game - look out for him in competitions going forward. And in Stanza X - James really took the reigns of leadership and that continued to propel him in the playoffs where now is in the finals designing a website and project with his son. For someone who went from having trouble even posting early in the game, to posting pictures and content to the site, to then making it to the finals with a custom website -- couldn't have written an arc better if you tried.
Congrats to everyone again - and good luck to the finalists!
