Maybe because that's the most decisive of the OG mario and luigi games. Some love it, others think it's just ok, some hate it.

I wonder why Nintendo chose to remake M&L instead of the first couple Paper Mario games. Everyone loves those and could be done to test the waters of bringing back the "old formula" which the newer games don't follow.

Because they hate me and my endless love for paper mario.
Because paper mario usually equals console?
Also something about the paper mario games take longer to make compared to the Mario and luigi games, judging by release dates alone, but I'm not sure what.

I’m guessing no. They replaced a lot of the voice clips with other reused clips. “Showtime!” is still there though.

Superstar Saga badly needed a remake. BiS did not. It was perfectly fine. The only way they could have improved it would be making it HD on the Switch. PiT could have used the remake.
