@MA Screamin'

IYou're a great imagineer, and I know you have school and stuff going on that makes it tough to be consistent. Though out of the four Stanzas this was your least active just from an observer in the brainstorming, following a trend of being active in Stanza I on a down-trend of activity to where we are now. Our question is...timing, are you able to be active in this upcoming Stanza and beyond, or do you (honestly) think that it might be more of the same going forward? Not a knock on your imagineering talents, but a realization.

@TwilightZone

Pretty much the same question - I know you were sick and I hope you feel better and everything is back to normal. That being said your team called on you several times this round and you just didn't answer. There's a difference between needing a break and taking a break. Needing a break is when you've overworked in the comp, or you have a final exam or something, and then you come back full strength the next round. Taking a break feels more like what you did this round, because you were clearly around just not responding. So, basically the same question - will this be a trend going forward and what will you bring to the table for your team going forward to help?

@Poe Dameron

You're not here for a check in on activity - you were very active this round, but you mentioned being one and done. My question to you is...despite you mentioning not being too active this week or something? (Maybe you can clarify that) Would you be interested in remaining full time? You were a strong contributor in making Castle's project what it was...and while people who have been in the competition since the beginning would get preference if it comes to future Board Room decisions - I think you could be a great contributor to Castle in the future. Let us know!

You have 24 hours to respond. Good luck!

I had said that because I wanted to try the game because it looked like so much fun, and that I was going to be away until May 4th so I didn't know if I could do a review. Despite that, if possible, I would love to continue. I may not be able to do too much this Stanza on my phone, but I could help writing up descriptions for whatever is needed. I understand the preference to players from the start too, fine by me, I'll play until my time comes.

You're in! Like Staples -- that was easy :p

You did a lot for Castle last round, and you were only here because I wanted to ask you to continue, so if you have time - feel free to head over to the brainstorming thread! https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/team-brava-castle-stanza-v-the-infinity-suite.940261/page-10

A Preview

As mentioned, after Stanza X, we will have a competition-wide Haunted Board Room session that everyone will enter and we will determine from there who moves on to the third and final Act of Homecoming Edition. Tentatively slated for Saturday May 26th till Sunday May 27th, all players in the game will answer the following questions. And I'm giving them to you now, in advance, so you have something to think about through the first seven stanzas and leading into the final three before the Board Room session!

1 - What was your most challenging Stanza this Season and how would you handle it differently in the future?
2 - Did you learn any new imagineering skills throughout the Stanzas? If so, what were they and did you feel it was worthwhile to try to learn them?
3 - In tandem with 2, Can you identify one (or more) ways in which you feel you have improved as an imagineer since Stanza I?
4 - Any additional thoughts/comments?

--------------
Those will be the four questions asked, and the responses combined with our own thoughts, will determine the cast for Act III. By all means feel free to think about them throughout the final few weeks and best of luck going forward!

A Preview (Part 2)

While last week's preview focused on the questions that will be asked, this week's preview will focus on one of the last things mentioned above, and that being 'our own thoughts'. While there's only so much you can do to prepare aside from what has been done already throughout the competition, it will hopefully give you a clear perspective as to what we have been focusing on throughout the competition.

Consistency
The Stanzas in Act III are designed so that everyone on the team has an opportunity to play a vital role in the overall project. Throughout the first ten Stanzas, what we've looked for are players who have been engaged, taking a proactive approach to the Stanzas during the brainstorming, and consistently involved (to the limits of their personal lives) for more than one Stanza in a row. Because in Act III, you'll need your A-game for more than one challenge in a row.

Drive
Essentially this comes down to, do you have an understanding of what the point of this game is? And have you showcased that throughout any or all of the first ten Stanzas? Have you tried new things? Have you taken on a leadership role? Have you had to step up into a leadership role you were uncomfortable with? Were you confident enough in yourself to put out something new and not have fear of judgment? These questions should not sound foreign because we've been stressing them throughout the entire competition in one way or another through prologues, prompts, reviews, and in the brainstorming threads. If they do sound foreign, well, uh oh :p:hilarious:

Environment
How well have you worked in the team environment so far and is it something that you've gotten better at as time has gone on throughout the comp, or something that has deteriorated (spoiler alert pretty much everyone has improved in this category, which is pretty cool to see)

Free-Time
This is something we can only estimate to limits, that is why it's at the bottom of these CDEF thoughts. But essentially, do we think you can handle the next three weeks, being engaged in the team without detracting from your personal schedule. They aren't insanely difficult challenges, but they require people to be active because this is where the winner of SA4 is decided! It's the playoffs essentially, so while again much like Environment, I don't see this being much of an issue with many folks, because you all care about your teammates and the comp, and if there's an emergency and people had to cover for you, I would feel comfortable with it. But it is one of our thoughts we consider so it's on the list.

Hope that helps give some perspective. See you all here next weekend and have fun in the final 2 Briar Patch Brawl Stanzas!

A Preview (Part 3)

To give everyone as much time as possible to gather their responses, The Haunted Board Room is going to accept replies starting Thursday May 24th at 8:30 PM EST and will close on Sunday May 27th at 8:30 PM EST, at the same time the official results of Stanza X are in.

This should give everyone 72 hours to respond, and a few had already mentioned to us about unavailability, which is why I'm announcing this now -- if you can't make the 72 Hour window and would still like to continue, you can either send us your responses in advance, or PM us and we can work something out.

I won't be tagging anyone to this thread because I feel as if we've given plenty of heads up that this is approaching, and it's on you whether or not you keep up with this part of the game. So, once again - enjoy Stanza X, and I'll be back here again Thursday night to open the Haunted Board Room *thunder and lightning*

While the teams designed their Muppet*Vision 3D queues for Disney's Hollywood Studios, their luggage was teleported from the Disneyland Hotel and Disney's Grand California Hotel & Spa, back to their starting points in the Walt Disney World Resort.

Marveling at how much they had grown and improved since discovering their hotel location before Stanza I, the players looked back at this retrospective with pride and a sense of accomplishment.

Nevertheless, not all players present now were here since the beginning, as we've seen players come and go throughout the competition and make a name for themselves in the process. Being a welcoming creative environment and given the goal of providing an opportunity to everyone, all who have come and gone in The Sorcerer's Apprentice Season 4: Homecoming Edition, are allowed to participate in this upcoming Stanza.

This Stanza will be a retrospective task, and the results will determine who moves into the 'post-season' of the competition, and ultimately, have a chance to individually be crowned the winner of Season 4. If you wish to advance into the next Stanza, participation in Stanza XI is mandatory. However, please be advised that participation in this will not guarantee advancing into the next Stanza, and that this Act III might not be for everyone.

These Stanzas in Act III are designed so essentially all players have an equally important role. Everyone, barring unforeseen and/or unavoidable circumstances, will be expected to pull their own weight, as these Stanzas ultimately determine the winner. Hence why we are looking for players who have best exemplified these traits during the regular season, through leadership, teamwork, enthusiasm, and effort, in order to have a fun-filled and successful Act III.

Good luck to everyone, and report for your pre-Stanza briefing, it's go time!

We arrive at an intermission, and the 5th symposium of The Haunted Board Room - the end of an Act and the beginning of another. As a whole, Act III is predicated on using skills and lessons learned throughout the first two Acts, and applying them to new imagineering scenarios. You may notice similarities to prior Stanzas or a combination of several Stanzas focal points, designed as an evolution of what you've been practicing. For those who have been trying new things and developing your skills consistently, hopefully you'll have the experience to help propel you forward and become an even better imagineer in Act III; which starts with this...

Your task is to reply to the following questions the best you can

1 - What was your most challenging Stanza this Season and how would you handle it differently in the future?
2 - Did you learn any new imagineering skills throughout the Stanzas? If so, what were they and did you feel it was worthwhile to try to learn them?
3 - In tandem with 2, Can you identify one (or more) ways in which you feel you have improved as an imagineer since your first Stanza in the competition?
4 - Any additional thoughts/comments?

Welcome all to the case THE HAUNTED BOARD ROOM v. DISNEYFAN18, here the plaintiff, a fellow Imagineer of yours will try to make his case about why he should advance to the ACT III of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice: Homecoming Edition, whether he remains or not will be decided by the jury, after hearing DisneyFan18’s case.

“Before we begin, is the plaintiff sure he wants to give up his right to counsel” Exclaimed the Judge, Yen Sid, without any emotions in his voice.

“Yes sir, I believe I have seen enough Legal Drama TV Series to be able to defend myself in this court.” DisneyFan18 said, there was a mix of excitement and nervousness in his voice.

“Very well, you may take the stand, the defendant’s lawyer may begin their interrogation.”

“DisneyFan18, member of Team Brava, former member of Team Castle, one of the culprits for the 84 pages document, do you swear to tell the truth and only the truth?” A floating purple dragon called Figment asked.

The freshman Imagineer, gave an affirmative answer, as he waited for the lawyer to begin their questions, it would be a lie to say he wasn’t nervous, after all this was his first competition, and his first time in The Haunted Board Room! However, he didn’t let go of hope, and smiled (or at least tried to), as he knew that no matter what happens after The Haunted Board Room, he did his best, had a lot of fun, learnt some new things and made a lot of friends. He heard someone clear their voice, and he looked up, he looked into the eyes of lawyer, and new that it had begun, there was no turning back.

“Hello Mister DisneyFan18, I hope you have had a pleasant time during the competition, let me begin by asking, what was your most challenging Stanza this Season and how would you handle it differently in the future?” Asked The Haunted Board Room lawyer, he couldn’t quite make their face, but their voice was intimidating enough.

This was a hard question, DisneyFan18 wasn’t sure which was the most challenging Stanza, in one side Stanza I was hard because it was the first challenge, then there was Stanza III, in which he was the Project Manager of a new team, however his fellow team members where there to support him through all of it, and then it hit him, that was the his most challenging Stanza, so he spoke up.

“After a few moments of consideration, I have reached the conclusion that my most challenging Stanza was Stanza V, as I had no previous knowledge of any of the Park options, nevertheless it was also one of the most entertaining ones. And I would have handed it better, by going on a more IPless route, as I went for what was known to me such as Disney IP Themed Attractions, when there were plenty of other possible takes on it, that would have been more challenging, and would have taken me out of my Comfort Zone.” The Imagineer answered calmly, while the whole courtroom was looking at him, he would make it through it.

“I see, then I’ll proceed, did you learn any new imagineering skills throughout the Stanzas? If so, what were they and did you feel it was worthwhile to try to learn them?” The defendant’s lawyer said, as they approached the stand, where the plaintiff was currently sitting. DisneyFan18 then realized that the lawyer was actually Madame Leota, and she has a creepy smile in her face, she wanted him to fail.

“I’ve explored different types of write ups, from attractions, to shops, to shows, to publicity, to restaurants, and I had no experience in many of them, however I didn’t let that stop me, I tried, I asked for advice, and I successfully learnt how to do them, which has proven to be helpful in more recent challenges. Then I also had some experiences in the art department, one I had never dared to explore, as I was way too scared about failing at it, nevertheless I did, in Stanza II, I designed some headers, in Stanza VI, I created some merchandise, which was a lot of help, and I’m glad I did, it was definitely worthwhile to try and learn them, and in Stanza IX, I did some art, and although it wasn’t perfect, I definitely improved, even if a little, from my first conceptual art, to the final piece I designed!”

“Very well, it’s not that impressive when you think about it, can you identify one or more ways in which you feel you have improved as an imagineer since your first Stanza in the competition?” Asked Madame Leota, in a bored voice, she was clearly trying to bring DisneyFan18, to make him feel insecure, but he wasn’t giving up, not now, not ever, he will always give his best.

He knew the answer to this question, he had been wondering this for quite a while, and he knew he had grown a lot, he could see it in his personal projects, as his vision for them has improved and become more concrete, he has also grown as a leader, and he has learnt the balance between to much and too little.

“At the beginning of the competition, I didn’t knew limits, I worked on a basis of rough ideas, and my concepts where extremely Blue Sky, instead of being centered, I have seen it in my evolution through the competition, as I have managed to develop more concrete ideas, I still have room for improvement, nevertheless the path I have wandered through the competition is big, and I have also seen it reflected in my personal projects, as they are more centered and less chaotic.” DisneyFan18 began explaining, there was a gleam of excitement in his eyes. “And I also have learnt about self control, during Stanza I, my write ups were unnecessarily long, and over detailed, in the Stanza II, I managed to improve a little bit in this aspect, but it wasn’t until Stanza V, in which I believe I managed to find balance.”

“Interesting, so is there anything else you want to say? Any additional thoughts or comments?” Madame Leota said surprised, she was expecting the Imagineer to fall into her game, yet he didn’t, he kept going forward.

“I would like to conclude by saying that I’ve enjoyed the competition so far, I have managed more than expected, and grown a lot, and regardless of the Jury’s decision, it would still have been a great experience for me, however, I would love to advance to Act III, to keep proving that I have what is needed to be an Imagineer, to keep having fun with my fellow Bravas in our crazy PMs, and over all, to keep dreaming!”

“Now that all is said and done, has the Jury reached a Verdict?” Asked Yen Sid in a calm voice, while Madame Leota smiled, would she get a new member for The Haunted Board Room?

“Yes, your honor” One of the Jury members stood up, and handed a piece of paper to Figment, who then gave it to Yen Sid, who read it with an impartial look in his face, it only made DisneyFan18 more nervous, would he make it? He hoped so, but now, it was out of his hands, he had to wait, and give his best in the remaining of Stanza X and Fantasmic! 2000.

“Very well, the Jury might read the Verdict.”

“We, the Jury, have come to the decision that DisneyFan18 will...”
