One Little Spark...
I already gave up after TLJ/TLS as it is clear to me that Disney cares more about the profits and SJW themes in these movies. And given the troubled production history with Solo, I won’t be surprised if you do just that.
We shall see.

(Oh, I could say so much more...but this is not the place)

I will say this...story and characters are paramount. They could come back next movie and knock it out of the park, and I'll look back and say this was the best "twist" mid-trilogy movie ever.

But...I sadly get the feeling that what it is really about is...Mike Bay style Transformers eye-pron scenes, mixed with barely enough character scenes to make it a "movie" (the "Bay" equation, frankly)...and, if you want the "backstory"...you need to consume all of the extra material.

Basically...remember how ticked gamers got with DLC? Well...now it is has come to movies. A half finished product sold to the masses, filled in by books, comic books, video games, etc....etc......etc.....

It is good business.

But...it is terrible storytelling.

I'll sum up my stance here...as politely as I can...

I didn't like STD's start. My mother, who was glued to the TOS when it aired, and introduced me to it, and conventions (I've only been to one that was ST based, in the late 80s, but it was hella fun), and science fiction in general (got me reading Asimov, who is king...after you consume a good chunk of his material you'll see that he beats he heck out of most others....but I'm getting off track)....

She was at my house for the Discovery premier. And, we watched it. She went to bed before the battle of binary stars.

I gave it a much longer rope...and by mid-season, I actually was getting to enjoy it. I liked the character dynamics they were building up to (clumsily...but)...and, I was starting to really enjoy certain characters. Though, what they did with Mudd was...pretty bad.

Then they did the mid-season story flip...and, I knew at mid-season, they were going to the mirror universe.

The first few episodes, this was ok. A few more character based plots, etc....showed the development of the people there...still all very negative, snarky, bad people...but, they were getting better.

And, then they rushed the Emperor arc...god, they should have drug that out...but, nah, gotta get to your conclusion, right?

So, a poorly defined character (they killed her off early) comes back in the mirror and is another poorly defined character? For "reasons"?

And then a few plot armor battles, and some nonsense, and now they are back in the "main universe"?

I just...

Look, there is science fiction. SCIENCE fiction. That is not what this is. This is futuristic fantasy.

(I got banned from a Star Trek forum for my response to the last Discovery episode)...I'm learning how to behave myself again...from the corner...

I find their lack of tolerance and respect for other people’s opinions disturbing.

@MonorailRed and @spacemt354 I'll handle the daily question today.

How do you feel about the bombshell that hit the forum last night that Disney has probably Canceled the new Theatre for Magic Kingdom? Discussion topic, why do you think it was cancel? Did they think it was stupid or are they moving the funds around to fiance something more important? Or maybe this is just crazy and nothing has changed.

That's a load of barnacles and an extremely poor decision, if true. It was going to be a huge capacity lifter in a park that desperately needed one.
