I dunno, I'll give it a shot...but...from what has been released it looks more like Muppets do 30 Rock. Meh.

I want the variety show back! Hopefully though they have aspects of that with guest stars and the like, and they just aren't showing it in the trailer.
You see, I'm a huge 30 Rock fan so a Muppet styled spoof of it is right up my ally. Though it would be great if the brought back the variety show...maybe there will be some of that in this show.

I could see Muppets doing 30 Rock as funny for an episode, maybe too, but a whole series? I just don't see it. That said, I'll give it a fair shake! It's really hard to tell from that trailer, and you know they are tailoring it to attract people, so we won't really get a clear picture, I suspect, until it actually airs.

I would concur.

There were a few bits in that trailer that I really started cracking up, but I could also see a bit of playing up of Muppet stereotypes to an almost sickening point...the whole Fozzie Bear stuff was strange too. Though, I'm looking forward to it being aired. Hopefully, unlike 30 Rock, it will not take an entire season to find its voice.

I'm personally just excited that we are getting the muppets back on TV, so I'll take whatever style of show I can get

It will be kind of interesting to see how Statler and Waldorf play into the show.

Also, are they using Walter? I know he's not the most popular, but I laugh at him more than Miss Piggy sometimes.

I'm not really sure, but the bit we saw of Statler and Waldorf seemed hilarious.

Fantastic Proposal here. The Great Muppet Ride is truly a fantastic E-ticket class ride here with lots of laughs and is just a great time altogether. The concept art is great and the attraction posters would look great in around the land or queue area to get guests interested in the ride with the tie-ins to other Disney attractions. The Animated map really brought the layout together and made it understandable as it is kinda confusing on its own. The capacity of this ride with up to 36 people per dispatch is great and the ride should be a real people eater.

Some issues though are here. First the Sesame Street seems entirely unnecessary and adds little to the proposal where the Muppets attraction is the highlight. I really like the idea of Statler and Waldorf riding with the guest but having them in the same vehicles as guests is really bad character integrity. Multiple dispatch generally happen in front of guests before they board and multiple Statler and Waldorfs would pass by. Suggestion would to be having them in a separate vehicle that joins the guest as they enter the first scene. Also the ride seems to be a little long. All the scenes are great but i feel there might be too many of them and some of the effect is lost when it just keeps going.

Team Goofy

Great Proposal guys. You have a really well developed land that highlights different IPs within the Jim Henson Company Umbrella and not just the muppets. The concept art is great and the blueprints are nice. Your script is absolutely spot on and is the highlight of the attraction. “An Abe divided against himself cannot stand” had me bust out laughing.

Im a little curious as why you decided to move the entire land to the Magic of Disney Animation area. There is plenty of land to have a nice little muppets area in between Star Wars and Pixar and it seemed unnecessary. The interactive queue is nice but giving guest the ability to leave the area and explore the entire land seems like it would be a logistical nightmare. Explore the building yes but having them leave is asking to lose the pagers or get to busy to come back on time.

You guys definitely took the most risk with your proposal having the Muppets take a back seat to the other Jim Henson Properties. I like the little detail like legal disclaimer and the timeline of everything. The Muppet Labs and Yorsh Desh Born are great additions and truly complete the land. Your land defiantly felt the most complete. I know next to nothing about Fraggle Rock so i cant argue for or against the ride but its seemed well put together and had a good script.

I do understand why you chose to do everything in phases and appreciate the realism there but at the same time I don’t think that its that far fetched to just temporary close the land to finish everything quicker. Especially when you are closing Muppet Vision anyways for enhancement. Also You did choose to emphasize lesser known and not as wide reaching properties over the Muppets and I do think that the Muppets should have a more leading role as the property is much more popular with most demographics.

Team Oswald

Very good proposal. Fantastic concept art. You guys defiantly have the most detailed and interesting queue. I really like the Idea of the Studebaker ride vehicle as it is something unique and recognizable to the Muppets. The studio tour is a nice fun way to showcase the mania that happens with the muppets when they do anything. I do really like how the ride circles the whole land and gives a fun perspective on everything.

While the studios tour is a fun I do have some concerns with DHS moving away from the studio theme and to a more immersive world building type park. Your script is not the strongest and while it does have some laughs I think it could have been done better. I wish I had more details with the rest of the land. Compared to your queue description the rest restaurants and meet and greets sort of feel flat.

Overall fantastic job to everyone and theses are all great proposals. Everyone should be proud of them and I am not looking forward to picking a winners and losers as It is a really tough call. We defiantly have our work cut out for us as judges this season.
Thanks for the kind words.

i just wanted to quickly explain why we used Sesame Street. With the location of our building for our ride, we realized that the entrance would be most effective if placed towards what is now San Francisco Street. We decided to retheme San Francisco Street to Sesame Street to have the theme be a bit more cohesive and make it a bit less jarring to have the entrance to the Great Muppet Ride there. Aside from that, it wasn't really meant to be anything big. Just an small expansion to the Muppet area of the park that would appeal to smaller kids and expand the Muppet area a bit.

In terms of Statler and Waldorf, I don't believe that trackless rides have multiple dispatch. Because of this, one train would be in load at a time. We did briefly discus having Statler and Waldorf show up right at the beginning of the first scene, but we decided against it do to the single dispatch.

Again, thanks for the kind words. I figured I'd just try to explain where our heads were at in terms of your critiques.

Just to respond to some of these... DISCLAIMER: Despite helping a little bit, I really didn't help as much as I would have liked because of my vacation. Because of that, these additions are from my understanding of the concept.

  • Thanks for the review by the way! Full art credit goes to Z along with the animated ride layout. He did a fantastic job.
  • It's definitely a people eater, as that's what DHS needs. A high capacity attraction that can churn through people and really draw the crowds away from some of the other popular attractions.
  • The Sesame Street mini-area was added to add some more Jim Henson "flavor" to the area. And the whole point of it was to simply mention it and have the attraction be the highlight. I mean, we really didn't want to focus to much on it and derail the main focus of the proposal.
  • The whole Statler and Waldorf was actually going to be what you said with the whole "join the guests after dispatch" thing. But, I think somehow we just changed it subconsiously and never realized it. Teammates, please correct me if I'm wrong though. ;)
  • I don't see how a long attraction is a bad thing. Of course, if a ride is over 20 minutes, there's a problem. But ours is most likely around the same time as splash mountain, so I don't see how that's a bad thing. It gives us more time to tell a thought-out story without shoving it down the throats of guests in a shorter amount of time.
I'd like to thank my team for really carrying my weight this week and I look forward to really getting to work next challenge! :p

Overall, great reviews @Vipraa ! :)

Just to touch on a few things...
-The reason we opened in phases was because we felt that having some things open as soon as possible was necessary for this park. Because while this could easily all close and open somewhat shorter, a lot of the rest of the park will also be closed so we thought it was worth it.
-Fair point about the Fraggles not quite being as popular as the Muppets. Although, it can be argued that since the Fraggles movie would be coming out then they could gain some popularity.

Again, thanks for the review! :)

I guess I'll join in the fun too;)

First off, great reviews Vipraa and thanks for the feedback! We chose the Magic of Disney Animation because of these rumors from Slash Film about the DHS expansions
hollywoodstudiosmap-lg-700x537.jpg

We chose this area specifically due to the rumored Pixar and Star Wars expansions set to occur at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Since Muppet*Vision 3D was situated within the area of potential expansion, we decided to uproot and travel to a different part of Disney's Hollywood Studios in order to not impede those expansion plans. You can see our planned location and overall blueprint below:

While all of it is still rumors for now until something is announced, in our project we designed it to compensate for those rumors in case they actually happen! That's about it.

Again great reviews! I realized from TCG how hard it is to judge. Especially when everyone does a great job. It's not easy, so I don't envy you. :p

It's quiet...
Well I'm beating myself up for having terrible time management with my summer P.E. stuff that was due midnight this past Saturday, but I procrastinated before I left for my trip with the idea that I could work on it in Europe when once I got there I couldn't access the textbook and then once I got home, rather than buckling down and doing the work I bs'ed on the internet and now I'm trying to get an extension. So I'm basically depressed and ed at myself right now.
