In mid-April, I'm hoping to be in NYC, so I checked tickets. Some of them are upwards of 1,000 bucks. It's impossible to get tickets.. So heart breaking.
Currently re-watching Rent.. Completely forgot about the part of Elsa Mooning us.

It's such a great musical! Musically one of the greatest. The main reason I went down to SoCal was to see @monkey92514 in a performance of RENT. He played a lot of background bit parts, mostly "the man"/drug dealer. As soon as I saw him in person for the first time I jump right up to him, get in his face, and yell out "I need my fix man, I NEED MY FIX!!!" Certainly a memorable way for us to get formally introduced
The actual performance was REALLY damn good. Lots of cool uses of the video screens, great acting/singing, and a really cool use of staircases rigged with wheels and made to look like fire escapes. Of course me as a giant RENTHead couldn't help but sing along the whole time.
The next day his performance was cancelled due to people in the cast being sick, but the cast got together in the campus courtyard to do a sung-through, shortened version of the show. Had some really awesome moments there. A big booing session happened as soon as Benny was reintroduced in act two. The audience participation in "Over the Moon" was off the charts, and EVERY person was clapping along to Seasons of Love. And how cool was it to be able to watch "Over the Moon" performed under the actual moon!

BTW. THERE WILL ALWAYS BEEN WOMEN IN RUBBER FLIRTING WITH ME. GIVE ME A BREAK!
Haha it's my favorite line in the Musical. It's comes at a perfect time. And yes One Song Glory is a much much much better song. That might be the single greatest line in the whole show
One of the running jokes between Monkey and I is that Roger should have just written down the lyrics to "One Song Glory" in the first act and it would have solved a lot of problems. "Your Eyes" is a nice enough song...but it's NO "One Song Glory". Ironically him singing about writing a great song becomes arguably the strongest song in the whole show. Oh the woes of a songwriter living in the fictional universe of a musical

I want to super like this. Oh Rent, the musical that got me into MusicalsAnd oddly enough out of the two songs, it's the one that DOESN'T remind us of Musetta's Waltz
45 hours...
Rent is probably my favorite musical of all time!I want to super like this. Oh Rent, the musical that got me into Musicals
