Oooh yea, I had that happen many a times during our first year. All part of the learning curve of the Hangouts software.
Hopefully I will get better.
Good job everyone on the proposals. I won't do a video, but I would like to talk about them for a bit.
@Baxtanu
Great job! I honestly loved it. Now lets dig a little deeper:
I think in general this was the strongest project in a week of weaker proposals. However, I think this would have been tough to beat even in a stronger field. Everything was concise, organized, and though-out. Alas there are areas where this team seems to consistently fall behind and that is detail and a feel of lacking.
Your presentation was very well done, but did you guys have a logo? I apologize if I missed it, but this is something I would have liked to see and something that I feel would have given your proposal a stronger sense of branding and an ad campaign. Their seemed to be a lot of focus on renovations rather than actual marketing. This contributed to the feel of missing with your proposal this week. My best advice would be to elaborate and make your proposals as detailed and full as you can. Elaborate on what the marketing will look like for a campaign, detail what the nighttime event experience, etc. I think that could go a long way in not only making your proposals better, but also help you guys win.
I liked what was going on in the parks and the decor was beautiful and simplistic. Great job on that. Like RM I would have liked to see more new attractions and again elaboration. This brings up another point I would like to make and it regards the theme in your campaign. I got the sense that instead of being gaudy and 'in your face!' like the Disneyland 50th was, this campaign aimed to be celebratory in an elegant and simplistic way while paying homage to the resorts past. If this was the goal then I think playing it low in new attractions works very well and fits with your overall theme.
In short I think you guys did great and despite a minor lack of detail it was more than enough to win.
@Sklaronah
This was a mess and I was very lost. I will be blunt, this was this teams worst submission. It lacked organization, it was an overload on details, lacked proof reading, and lacked visual elements. In short it was bad and I think this team not only has a lot to learn, but a lot of room for improvement.
I know that a while ago I mentioned that websites are being over done (and I doubt anyone cared), but the key to these contests is knowing when a website is the right idea and when it isn't. For a marketing campaign a website is almost a given and when you are presenting so much information a website is your best option. Not only does it make you look more professional and organized, but it makes going through your concept easier. This proposal was not only had a lot of information to consume, but given its presentation style it was difficult and boring to read through. A video would have even been a unique option.
Now as for your actual content, it was okay. I think you guys focused a lot on trying to out-do DLR, and that drew focus away from the rest of the resort. That is a big problem because WDW is not just one park and one hotel, it's six parks and nearly twenty hotels. It really is a world and for the 50th you need to emerge that entire resort in it. Your proposal didn't do that. While it did focus on MK, DHS, and Epcot I felt that event then it was not too great. Your new pavilions could have been explained better and I would have liked to see improvements to all of the WS Pavilions. DHS and MK seemed like after thoughts to Epcot as did everything else.
In short this could have been better and my big notes to take away is to focus on your presentation and strengthening that by looking into new ways to present your material. finally, details are great but too much is too much and it is important to not put too much focus on one thing, even out the focus. I wish you all good luck next week and in the tribal council.
In conclusion this was not everyone's best week and I hope that next week will be better. Good luck and I look forward to the coming days and weeks.
