The Shanghai Disneyland spoiler rich attraction preview thread!

Very unimpressive if that's the final lighting the room will have. The mechanics of the AA are totally visible. I didn't even notice the shadow part.

I agree. I hope they change the lighting in Q'araq's room and get him out of Disco Yeti mode ASAP. The rest of the ride looks pretty cool (especially that whirlpool). Easily Disney's best raft ride, but that isn't really saying much considering its only competition is GRR and Kali.

Nice! Looks pretty close to Grizzly River Run with a potentially-fun AA encounter and the cool whirlpool basketball hoop (people are so going to be tossing stuff into that). I agree, best raft ride yet from Disney. Now if only Disney would actually add Grizzlies to Grizzly River Run...

Wow wow wow! It's here! And I think it looks great (and will be even greater one the apostrophegator is fixed).

I think, even though the animatronic isn't working properly, it was a good idea to open it (I assume it was opened to all trial people?). Sure, it's not good to show something that isn't working. But it's also not good to have huge lines, and this will ease the stress on the rest of the park. So it's a neccessary sacrifice. I do think the lighting needs to be dimmed though, because it's bad to see the mechanical parts.

The rest of the ride really does look fun and I like the theming and just the whole ride in general. It's really very much like Expedition Everest. You go up a long, suspenseful lift hill. Then the path you're supposed to take is blocked, and you go in a different direction and encounter the creature.

And it's so ironic that this animatronic is also having problems. I don't think it's fair to judge that aspect of the ride yet (talking to you, twitter dude linked above!).

Rapids rides are naturally difficult to film because they spin. We didn't get a totally clear view of the alligator, and it also cut off probably 2.5 to 3 minutes of the beginning of the ride. But that's all fine, because I'm glad we even have this, and so big thank you to whoever filmed it.

I'll admit I didn't watch the entire stunt show yet but it does look very cool.

Anyway, I know all eyes are on Roaring Rapids (and Eye of the Storm) but here's a map of the pirates track layout, with arrows and labels. I apologize if this was already posted. Or if you simply don't care and I'm clogging up the thread.

I'm going to assume this is temporary? The stage show can't happen with this whole extra musical stage set up, but it looks too nice and built in for it to be temporary. At least too permanent to to be down on opening day. Anyone know what it's for?

Onto the next "is it temporary?"... these red curtain things have been here for a while now, but only recently were the round emblems added. I asumed the things were temporary, for the installation of grass and trees and stuff like that. But the emblems have me worried. Once again, they look too nice to be temporary. At least too permanent to be down on opening day. Anyone know what these are for?

It might be for next weeks opening day special that will air on various Disney channels

Quite posssibly the coolest airport advertisement I've ever seen.

(Is there a way to put tweets here without needing the link?)

Yes that makes sense. Thanks.

edit: So I assume that, since the music stands are set up already, they filmed or will be filing this in the near future. And then it'll be down on opening day. I hope.
Still not sure about the red curtain things.

I'm pretty sure the AA is missing a portion of skin since they are working on it. The mechanics will not be exposed in the final product.

Yeah it definitely looks like he's missing skin. I'm sure it will look many times better when it's fixed.

But even if it's not fixed by opening, they should just run the ride anyway (it didn't truly open for trial operations, that video was from cast training or something extra limited like that). Not just because I hope you're able to ride it, but because they need the capacity. SDL has a serious line issue...

According to Dakota, that's the line for the castle walkthough.

The park will have a very bleak future if people are turned away by rediculously long lines like this.

Was this taken during the preview of the park weeks ago?

It'll have a bleak future if no one shows up (aka Paris). If the crowds jam the place full, the expansion plans and resort build out will hopefully continue on pace.

I'm forseeing lots of waiting in my immediate future...
