One final reason Roaring Rapids may not have opened before is that maybe they wanted to test out the park without worrying about soaked people walking around and dripping everywhere? Anyhow...
There are pics from twitter shows the line of Roaring Rapids, therefore it is indeed operating.

Thank you. Well on one hand, I can't contain my excitement about the fact, not only is it operating, but moreso that we'll probably see a full video in the next 24 hours!
On the other hand... wow, that queue looks like a miserable place to wait. Classic Six Flags outdoor queue style... an overhang with lights and then fans in the middle, and not much else. It looks like there's something relatively interesting in the center-right of the photo.
While there are semi-nice queues like Soarin's, Tron's, Pirates's, and likely others I haven't seen, I've seen none that I find to be particularly outstanding. And there are others that look miserable, like this one and Pooh's, and again, likely others I haven't seen. Overall, I'm generally less than thrilled with SDL's queues.
It's not neccessarily that the queue situation here is worse than that of WDW, it's just that, 45 years later, Disney had an opportunity to greatly improve on the situation in this brand new park, and they could've done better.
Maybe seeing more will sway me on that. I've yet to see or hear of SDMT's queue. Is it the same as WDW's, or did they drop the interactiveness?
Lets hope the ride far outdoes the queue. And you can bet I'll be on the constant lookout for a video!
EDIT: false alarm, it was the queue for the Tarzan show. I feel so dopey.
