Trip Report The (second) ONE with enhanced cleaning and (a little less) Physical Distancing. Sept 2020

How is everyone doing out there???

A little background on this trip. This trip was origionally booked as a Food and Wine/Birthday girls getaway with two of my friends. We booked The Poly at 7 months Thursday through Sunday. (One friend’s bday was Thurs, the other was Sunday! Sooooo perfect!!!)
Buuuuut, they are both teachers and were not allowed to go. (Read that again. Not Allowed☹️)
I had the reservation and I wanted to go. My friend, R and I had a trip in April we had canceled. We had rescheduled for October to do a Halloween party (Nope!) and a DVC moonlight madness (Nope again). Then, she lost her job😞 so she came back to work with me. Her Mom, Gpa and Uncle own the business.
“Hey R, want to go to Disney in September instead?”
“Yeah!”
“Should we add a night? I still have 18 points I can use.”
“Yeah”
“Do you think we can get the extra day off?”
She looks at me. I look at her. 😂😂😂
I mean, her Mom makes the schedule.

She booked her flight, bought her park tickets, made her park reservations and we were set.

Tuesday night, September 15th I caught the sunset and headed to bed for an early start the next morning.

Wednesday, September 16 came early. R’s Gma was flying back to Ft Lauderdale an hour before our flight. So we all went together to help her out.

We were not sitting together because our flights were booked seperately. I asked to move us together but I asked on the late side and it was a no go. It was fine. We watched movies. I love Jet Blue TV’s!

Yay! The sign said 45 minute wait. The woman who checked us in pointed out the sign and said it “could” take 45 minutes.

Overheard on the ME: “Mom, I dont want to go to the Magic Kingdom!”
“Where do you want to go?”
“Legoland!!”
Haha😂
Lets check the weather...

Back of the bus. Not a 45 minute wait but about 20.

Too far in the back of the bus to get THE SIGN. How about the side of the road? Almost as good???

For the record, we went to Wilderness Lodge, BLT, the Contemporary and then The Polynesian.

We finally made it and were ready to let the fun begin!!

I honestly would never have noticed your forehead if you hadn't specifically mentioned it. I don't think you have anything to worry about. You look amazing. I guess we all have things about our appearance that we'd like to change, and a lot of those things people aren't even looking at. I'm just excited to get to live vicariously through you with your pictures!
Thanks. Usually in a picture of someone smiling you look at their smile. With nothing left to look at...

Maybe it just seemed darker since you went through the queue so fast and your eyes didn’t have time to adjust? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also just say no the Bo! I know all have stuff we feel self conscious about but seriously your forehead is fine. And you don’t want to roll those dice on if the Botox looks natural or not:

Heh, heh, heh, you said bars twice...

P.S. Sorry to be so incredibly late. I've been under a rock three time zones away avoiding all the bad air from the wildfires.
Feel ya. Born and raised So Cal. Santa Ana winds will get ya every time. But jeez, fires started early this year. Stay safe!

From the looks of the fire maps, you'd have a ways to go to get away from the bad air. My brother is just outside of Laramie, Wyoming, and the air quality is AWFUL there....they've got the Mullen fire 130,000 acres burning right there in the medicine bow national forest, plus all the ones burning in Colorado. The western half of the US looks like just one big fire pit!

Yeah, it's horrible here (about 50 miles SE of Sacramento). This mornings AQI was 173. Lovely. Our son is a firefighter engineer and in the past has gone out on strike teams for weeks at a time. So far this year he's done station overtime to cover for others who went out. We know strike teams are a necessary part of the job, but as parents we're happy he's not had to go out so far this year.

I liked your Poly pictures (and Peter Pan, one of my favorite cues). We last stayed at Poly pre-DVC around...2005 or 2006. It was a fantastic trip in my opinion and we loved the room. In my 3 year old daughters opinion (it was a 7 day Poly trip with a 3 day DCL cruise at the end) it was too much vacation. LOL Haven't stayed DVC yet so sounds like I will wait a bit longer.

My kids also complain about going on vacation. (That’s why I go without them)

The Poly will always be a special resort. Right now she just needs some TLC. I am happy she is closed down and getting it.

Until then...

I could feel your frustration with the CM's and room issues at the Poly!

I've had a few of those encounters myself at DVC resorts but hopefully when the renovations are completed there, things will be much better all around! As I have said before when reading your TR's, I find myself cracking up out loud! You are such an incredibly funny writer. 🤣 🤣 🤣 Love the view from your balcony at the Poly and I can truly identify with your lack of sleep from R's snoring since my DH is part of the snoring club! Your Golden Saloon suggestion is such a great idea and they could use the Diamond Horseshoe building which seems to be only used during seasonal operations these days! Love that you're pretty much just walking on the rides at MK this day!

My husband snores but has the mask thingy. Life changing! Before he went for the sleep study, before he got the mask I was tired all the time. I went to the dr and got test after test after test. We all assumed it was a thyroid issue since my mother and grandmother both had under active thyroids.
so
many
tests
Then, my husband went away for work. I slept and felt amazing. Who knew???

Good that he hasn't had to go so far! My brother's family owns a restaurant in Centennial, Wyoming and the fire was only a couple of miles from there, and they were in pre-evac, but it looks like the wind shifted and now the fire is spreading in the other direction. I'm hoping they remain safe! Hope your son stays safe, too!

Thursday, September 17 cont

Next up was Peter Pan. Actually we were headed to Splash Mountain but Peter said 10 minutes. Peter lied. It was more like 3.5.
I have never been in the queue. Not in like...not in like ever!

These reminded us of the paintings in our (bath)room. (You know, the one with the shower that spurts fire-THAT should have been my TR title! Missed opportunity)

My daughter and family had a bad experience at the Poly a few years ago, too.
They were expecting it to be terrific, which it wasn't. Their room was dark, dank, musty smelling and tired looking.
Their breakfast trays were never picked up by housekeeping. They emptied them and stacked them up to be removed. After a few days, they put them in the hallway. When they left 7 days later, guess what??? Their trays were still in the hallway where they met many other hallway trays to keep them company!
My grandkids wanted to come stay with us at POR, but they had to stay at the Poly and suffer along with their parents, LOL.
So, my desire to stay at the Poly has left, and so has theirs.
Sorry you had to experience so many problems, AND grumpy CM's.

but you look beautiful as always! I hate just seeing my eyes and forehead in a mask too though, so I feel ya. I am a huge lipstick fan. Lipstick and masks don’t work. 😑 Again, darn you 2020! 😷
