Hi!

Don't know if this is already known but just thought I'd let you guys know that, according to our national newspaper today, Disney are on the search for someone to play Princess Merida. They are looking for someone with an authentic accent and red hair to play her either at Disney World or Disneyland.

I thought I read somewhere that she was already doing meet & greets, but everyone knows to take news stories with a pinch of salt.

Yeh,read the Sunday Mail today. As long as it's a good Scottish accent unlike Mel Gibsons as William Wallace, god, how embarrassing.Anyway,at $7.80 per hr,and getting a chance of working at WDW,Iam thinking of dying my long locks, getting a thermal perm, and shaving my legs.Aye Mrs Doubtfire, eat yer heart out.:ROFLOL:

I doubt this is for the parks...they've been casting for her, seems like a lot of the current CMs who play face characters have tried out for her.

Don't know about that? There is details of how to apply and a daily rate of $7.80 per hour, and of course a work permit required tho a friend of mine had no problem when he went for his interview in Glasgow and now works at Rose&Crown in Epcot.:wave:At the end of the day, they maybe req more than one to play the character part.P.S.still getting me legs shaved and tinting my hair, now where's my rollers.:ROFLOL:

Oh of course, they have lots of people who play each character...and then I'm sure she'll be in all the parks eventually (not just WDW and DL). I just meant that they aren't specifically only looking for authentic Scottish redheads to play her. You can bet you'll see some of the same faces you see with Rapunzel or Cinderella, etc, lol. And I'm sure she's going to have a big honkin' wig no matter if the CM is a redhead or not.

They should either hire Florence (minus The Machine) or that lord of light worshiping priestess from Game of Thrones to do the meet and greet.

Pretty easy job if they sent some talent scouts north of Inverness.

They have definitely started casting "friends" for this role already.

A girl who was good friends with Ariel seasonally last summer has hinted on her Twitter that she was cast for this role, and begins training soon.

Maybe they are having trouble finding enough friends that can pull off the accent, so they are branching out their search. I don't know why they would require that they have red hair though, as the friends of Merida will wear a wig. :)

Perhaps it's just so that it's more believable - some natural redheads have different color tints in their skin, so maybe they are really going for that.
