The roaches

Okay, I went to MGM last Monday to see Fantasmic. At the end of the show the lights came on and everyone starting shrieking. I looked down and there were hundreds of very large cockraoches running around on the ground. Someone called them palmettos but they looked like cockroaches on steroids. The were absolutely disgusting and everywhere. I kept thinking how easy it could've been for one to crawl up someones pants or something. Little kids were stepping on them, it was nasty.

Has anyone ever seen this?

Yeah, these are the exact same things you feel in It's Tough to be a Bug. And you thought it was just special effects. Ha!

Unfortunatly thats part of life in Florida, they're called Palmetto bugs and they are big, nasty, flying super roaches. Usually found around a lot of foliage.

Nothing beats the huge BEETLES found under Spaceship Earth after park closing..lol

Ive had a run in with those things many of times after calling EPCOT CLEAR OF ALL DAY GUESTS and then walking back to Cast Services.

Weird thing, is that when you step on them, they crunch, but when you lift up your foot they charge at you still lol

Palmetto Bugs is just a really nice name for GIANT FLYING COCKROACHES. Blech. The first time I saw them was in Hilton Head. Stepped on one. Crunch. :zipit:

Ah, yes another advantage to living in Florida [I just moved from Tampa.] I had a similar freak out once when we stayed at the All Star Music, we were walking to our hotel room and it was like the frog plague they were everywhere, and it doesn't help that I have (had) a major phobia about frogs.

and water.

and you were right near both
but no i never heard of that happen at fantasmic.
ew
another reason for me to not go

Tha's gross! I lived in Florida for a year when I was in the Navy, and I chased one of those things around my condo for a hour. It climbed underneath my alarm clock, and I smashed my clock with a mallet and killed it. I was afraid to lift up the clock because it tried to fly at my head once.

Is this a regular occurance at Fantasmic? I am REALLY afraid of those things!
