Day 3

We are going to space! Sort of. Today we are working with one of the most problematic Disney rides. It has sure been a pain to Disney.

8- Mission Space

Today your task is to…

Propose a replacement for Mission: SPACE

It can be a new version of the ride or a whole new ride with a different story. You can even gut the whole thing and create a complete new ride.

Some reminders:
- You can keep it simple! You don’t have to make a full blown 10 page document on the ride. You can do a couple sentences and/or a few pictures. Whatever you feel comfortable with

-Don’t be scared to share your ideas! Every idea is a good idea

-Have fun with it! Don’t be afraid to think outside the box.

Now get to thinkin'!
I'd go an odd route I think. Make it a water dark ride. Most of the cool stuff is above you, but the calm water your boat travels through reflects it giving it a really magical quality.

Exceedingly simple. HORIZONS RETURNS. No upgrades, exactly like it was, orange smell and all.

Well, I'd say a new space-related attraction considering that's a well-fitted theme for Epcot, but Guardians of the Galaxy might cover that spot now. Funny enough, that could free up for a theme to return to the park: Energy. Thus, I'd propose a new pavilion where Mission: Space once was...

The Energy Station

Ales_Bursic_1.jpg

This pavilion would be all about energy. Specifically, renewable energy and the path that has been taken towards a more sustainable world. I'm not 100% sure of the main attraction, but the idea that most comes to me is a Mission to Mars/Alien Encounter-type of show called Power Trip. Guests would enter the circular viewing chamber, seated all around a central pillar. The show would run through the history and evolution of energy sources, and the theater itself would change to reflect that. At the top of the show, it would resemble a Victorian power chamber, its central pillar a machine boiler of coal power. As the show marches on and technology evolves, these clunky and outdated technologies wear away piece by piece. By the end, the theater is a smooth and metallic chamber, with the central pillar chiseled down to a sleek and futuristic turbine.

Voyager's Journey
image.jpg
Mission Space gets completely scrapped in favour of Voyager's Journey, an exploratory, simulated adventure through space, visiting the sights that the Voyager 1 probe has and still is taking on its epic journey through the cosmos. We take a sped up journey through the solar system, passing by the planets, moons, asteroid fields, before taking a leap into what lies beyond our known system. To add a little "oomph" to the attraction, guests will feel a recreation of the Voyager's initial launch from earth, accompanied by a surround sound and interactive environment to feel like they are travelling through space.

This is a cool one! It's like the polar opposite of what it is now lmao. I love water rides so this is a win in my book!

Hmm... a complete retheme i would change it to the Wonders of Life pavilion.

Space is covered now by Guardians so a trip through the Human Body makes more sense then 2 space themed attractions
Totally! Like a successor to Body Wars!

Festival Grounds
This new festival pavilion replaces Mission: Space and Space 220. Used for festivals and holidays
Love it! With the new Play Pavilion taking over the current festival pavilion this would be perfect.

Yup! I really do hope one day it will return in some shape or form.

This is very cool! I love the idea of the theater changing to each section of technology.

Another amazing attraction! The effect of traveling through space seems like it would be a really cool thing to experience.

Day 4

Disney's California Adventure has always had thematic issues right from the opening. Almost all of the park is not even themed to California anymore. Today we are going spruce up the park just a bit.

Propose a new name for Disney California Adventure

It can be anything as long as you try and capture the theme of the park as a whole. Have fun with it.

Some reminders:

Disney's California Adventure really has become a muddled mess when it comes to its theme. However, I think I've found a thread through which to reweave all the current lands of the park into one idea: a vacation. I present...

Disney's Vacation Adventure

a-goofy-movie.jpg

When the time comes calling to take a vacation from your hectic day-to-day life, let Disney hand you the guide for an exciting vacation! Take a spin as you see the sights and stars along Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Land, taking in some of that old-school Hollywood magic! Hit the open road in Cars Land, or slow down for that beautiful scenery in Grizzly Peak! Take a break to enjoy the treats of Pacific Wharf, before enjoying the thrills and fun of old-fashioned seaside resorts with Paradise Gardens Park and the Pixar Pier! And finally, you'll see a scientific exposition straight from your favorite Marvel movies once Avengers Campus opens its doors!

I really like this as a new framing device! Setting it up as a series of vacation destinations is a really great idea!

Maybe build on Dash's idea with something like Disney's Grand Destiantions or Disney's Joyous Journeys Park. Idk, I've always been bad at names lol

Thanks! It would seem hard to unify such a scatter-shot set of lands like DCA has wound up with, but then the idea of vacations just struck me. Some go for a road trip, some head out in nature, visit an iconic city, or even just hit the beach or seaside town.

If they rethemed the park around the idea of these lands being a collection of vacation destinations, it could actually offer a good thematic core to a park that really lost its way.
