The One Resort You Wouldn't Stay At.

Hi Folks,Having recently returned from 14 magic days at WDW staying at PORS. We always visit other resorts on our trip to have a wee nosey, usually deluxe, one day I'll save that extra dollar, anyway, this year we checked out Swan & Dolphin and also Contemporary. The Swan & Dolphin we did like with those waterfalls outside and the situation of it,however the Contemporary resort left us cold.It reminded us of a hotel built around a shopping complex, and didn't feel I was in Disneyworld. Now that's just my opinion so please don't jump on my back if your a Contemporary fan.So is there one resort that you've visited that you wouldn't like to stay at?

Hatter I am with you on the Contemporary. It is beautiful in in own right but, it is just not my taste, to modern, I have no desire to stay here.

I am looking foward to visiting the Art of Animation and think this may be a resort we might stay in. I don't however like the theming of the other Value's, to over the top for me. Maybe because we don't have kids these hotels don't appeal to us? I am not sure....

I wouldn't stay at AoA. It looks way too loud for my tastes, and I am someone who likes the other value resorts.

Why couldn't they have made it just a tad less A 3yr old Designed This looking?

I used to say the Contemporary but I would stay at Bay Lake Tower now that it is open. But as a whole, I don't care for the Contemporary. Also, not a fan of Swan and Dolphin. I think because I feel like this is the "business meeting" resort. Every time my dad had a business meeting in Orlando, they put them here. And I would not stay at All Star Sports. Not a sporty person myself. I didn't care for Pop when we were there but I would stay at Art of Animation. There are some others that I just don't care for the themes but that doesn't mean that I would never stay there - just it would be highly unlikely. :)

We got to visit BLT last month, and I have to say, as much as I dislike the Contemporary, it's heaven compared to BLT. BLT looked like absolutely nothing more than a big city office building.

I think I would stay an any if they were cheap enough to get me back to WDW, I have only stayed at Deluxes every 2 years, I've since learnt I could go yearly if I stay at a DTD resort!!! I was sleep in a tent near the entrance if I had to!

Whooops I didn't mean to post that last one, I hadn't finished.

I also wouldn't stay at Colorado Springs, again it's an atmosphere thing. Not fond of Grand Floridian or Y&B either.

I had a look at the Hilton after you posted about it before, I was very impressed. It looks really nice, I would definitely consider it for a future holiday.

I would not stay at any of the All-Star resorts again. Stayed at Music in 2007 and hated EVERYTHING about it.
We've stayed at GF, BLT, OKW, BW, AKV, BCV, VWL, and the Hiltons at DTD and Bonnet Creek.
Hilton Bonnet Creek was incredable! No Disney resort perks but great view of all of the Disney parks and Best pool "in Disney World"

I would have to agree...not that I wouldn't stay there, but it would be the bottom of my choices.

Pioneering the Universe Within!
The frustrating thing about the Contemporary is that the rooms, especially on the BLT side, are by far the nicest rooms on the property. They're just on the bland side.

To answer the original question, I avoid the All-Stars, not because I hate value resorts (I stay at Pop all the time), but because I hate those value resorts. They're loud and have too many kids running around.

I grew up staying off property, my wife grew up always on. When we first went down to the world together I was stubborn, "offsite is so much cheaper!" and obviously it was but the "magic" wasn't there. The next year we all went down as a family, and of course we had to stay on property. But my first visit changed my perception forever. We stayed at the BC and I just fell in love with the atmosphere but also the convenience of walking out of my resort and bam... walk to epcot or go have a few drinks on the boardwalk.

Now, with that in mind I am NOW very biased. I've seen pictures and read reviews and I have to say that I'd like to avoid the values at all costs. Not that I am looking down on people, but I feel like my first experiences being a deluxe has spoiled it for me.

Here's my esteemed and valued by everyone's opinion

Shades of Green and Value Resorts: I generally will come a day earlier than my week long vacations and stay at Shades of Green 1 night...so I can be at the Boardwalk bt 8 am to check in the next morning.

There is nothing wrong with Shades of Green per se...just not Disney enough for me..but a great value for the military (but personally I prefer NOT to be around my fellow service members on vacation..I see it enough daily at work)

Value resorts I would substitute this vs the Shades of Green..but wouldnt want to be there beyond one night as the beds are generally smaller in size and the amenities are'nt to my taste...with the new suites at AoA Id take a look at them.

Contemporary: I disagree on you good folks here..too me the Contemporary embodies Disney..at least in my mind as it was the first to open..and It was the first resort I stayed at in 1976 (I was 5) and remember the Murial on the wall...the Monorail coming through the resort..but thats just me...yes it is more modernized...I hate BLT and would not stay there.

That being said Im very excited to stay at the POFQ King Bed...in a couple weeks..been a while since Ive stayed at a modereate but Ive always wanted to stay there so we figured what the heck and will give it a go over Labor Day..considering there are very cheap rental points for Villas over that weekend it was a hard choice
