The One Resort You Wouldn't Stay At.

Hi Folks,Having recently returned from 14 magic days at WDW staying at PORS. We always visit other resorts on our trip to have a wee nosey, usually deluxe, one day I'll save that extra dollar, anyway, this year we checked out Swan & Dolphin and also Contemporary. The Swan & Dolphin we did like with those waterfalls outside and the situation of it,however the Contemporary resort left us cold.It reminded us of a hotel built around a shopping complex, and didn't feel I was in Disneyworld. Now that's just my opinion so please don't jump on my back if your a Contemporary fan.So is there one resort that you've visited that you wouldn't like to stay at?

The frustrating thing about the Contemporary is that the rooms, especially on the BLT side, are by far the nicest rooms on the property. They're just on the bland side.

To answer the original question, I avoid the All-Stars, not because I hate value resorts (I stay at Pop all the time), but because I hate those value resorts. They're loud and have too many kids running around.
My beef with the All-Stars is the transportation...sometimes it takes forever for a bus, especially at park closing. We like Pop and are probably going to give AoA a try this Dec. Hopefully the busing will be adequate after the more affordable wing opens. We consider a room a place to sleep and shower, not much more.

I've got to be honest that the value resorts just seem too sparse to me. I am not looking down my nose in any way at them but they always just seem to me like army barracks that have Disney themeing. Believe me I wish I felt differently as the money savings is certainly substantial and I really wish I could feel satisfied with the accommodations as we could stay longer or more frequently at the values. We might be interested in trying AoA sometime in the future though as it seems like they broke out of their mold a bit with that value resort. We do like to take a mid day break at our resort and I prefer the feel of coming back to the mods or deluxe resorts to decompress for a little while either mid day or at the end of a looooong day at the parks.

For me i'll never stay at any Value Resort again. They are loud and just not for my taste in decor. We tried Pop Century one year for a quick weekend trip and came to the conclusion they are not for us.

Boy, I can't believe the non love for contemporary, I think it's so cool to have the monorail right downstairs.

I am the son of DVC owners and stayed in a ton of the DVC resorts, but last January, I went down with a friend of mine, and we stayed at PC, now, if you're going with young kids, a moderate to deluxe makes sense, but, if you're just going to the world with a bunch of friends and you're just going to be using the room to sleep, then a value might be for you.

Gotta be honest, I don't have any desire to stay at Saratoga Springs.
I Totally agree. I stayed at the Contemporary and LOVED it! There's nothing like having the monorail right down stairs, and being so close to MK. I stayed at Saratoga Springs and was left unimpressed. If I had to pick a resort that I wouldn't be interested in staying at it would be the CBR...

btw this is my first post, so, Hi everyone!

Well I guess I should never say NEVER, but the All Star Resorts and Pop Century. I don't really hate any of the resorts, I still like to visit all of them, but those are just not for me. I'm making an exception for Art of Animation next month because its new and so far to me it actually looks like a great resort with some beautiful aspects that take it far above the other "value" resorts. So we will see in a few weeks.

And while it has an awesome pool, Coronado Springs I would not likely ever stay at either. Same with Saratoga. And unless I ever ended up living in the area, I highly doubt i will ever stay in the Campgrounds. The Swan and Dolphin I have stayed at in the past, but I don't think I would ever return.

You'll laugh at my answer, but I wouldn't stay at the Grand Floridian (or most of the deluxe resorts). While we can afford it, I would feel I was being wasteful to spend so much money on accommodations, when a good room can be had elsewhere, on-site or off, for a fraction of the cost. I know the resort is lavish and beautiful, but for me, no amount of amenities could justify forking over a few months' worth of home mortgage payments just to rent a hotel room for our vacation.
