Trip Report THE ONE FOR FOOD AND WINE, September 2019 *COMPLETE*

Wow...those kids...Friday Sept 20 cont
I went back to the room expecting to change and head out on my own but SIL and J had rallied. We headed to the monorail and my youngest, Dre called me.
“So and so tried to beat up Dad after my game today!”
Me: “the freshman on your team tried to beat up your father?”
“Yes!”
Intriguing right? Here is the quick version. There is (was) a kid in JV football who was a real PItA! Throwing his helmet if things went wrong and yelling at his team mates all the time. The coach, who we can call Sam, did nothing.
After the game the boys were lined up to go back to the locker room. They leave the stadium in the opposite corner of where the spectators enter/exit. The parents are mulling about getting ready to leave and PitA boy and another head away from the team towards the parents. My husband had coached most of these boys for many years and still feels like they are his team (you can take the coach out of the .....however that saying goes.) He says to the boys “hey go line up with your team”.
B1:”No. They are A S S” (and lots more stuff that if I tried to write would look like this ***************)
More words then B1 gets in my husbands face and calls him a c sucking N. And lots more ****. Security comes then the boys mother starts in on my husband but another mom shut her down immediately.
In the end the two boys, who do not even go to the school, got kicked off the team. I still worry that one of their “friends” ( cough cough gang memebers) will go after my son.
And coach did nothing....
I had to hang up as we were geting on the monorail but are you kidding me???

Fake smile by me as I was so confused!
I texted B directions and sent her pictures so she could get to Epcot easily. But meanwhile I had a date with a magician or two or three....
Before the trip @Rista1313 put together a group chat for the many of us who were going to be down there. She sent out a general meetup at Epcot for this day hoping it would work out for many of us. (There were about 15 or so on the group chat)
@Figment Forever said she had plans to be in Epcot that day, which I believe was her final day so we all know how that goes. @dryerlintfan was also planning to be in Epcot but was probably going to be heading out before I arrived. (Party night?)
I think @Laura Loves Tigger was around too but she later explained that her daughter was not comfortable meeting strangers. I hear you!!! My SIL and J were very confused.
SIL: “ You’re not even on facebook and you are meeting strangers you met in a Disney chat room?!?”

We headed off to Canada as that was our meet up place. It’s like @Rista1313 can read my mind as that has become my traditional first stop. (In her TR she said she wanted to catch me before I got too deep into F and W. So smart!)

SIL and J went to find a seat and drink their beers while Rista and I chatted. When the girls were done and ready to move on Rista and I said our goodbyes. Again I got an awesome hug and some good advice. She told me not to drink too much❤
We went in opposite directions. We were heading toward England when I decided to check the group chat to see if there were any straglers and to my surprise there was!!
@Tashifer90 were in the world for their wedding. Rista added them last minuteish to the group chat just in case. And they were, waiting in Canada by the DVC booth. I sent SIL and J on ahead and I went back and there they were!!!
It was so amazing to see them. We discussed Adams football jersey collection amongst other things.

SIL sent me a pix of fish and chips so I was off. When I got there they hadn't saved me any. Not even one lousy chip.

It has been an odd start to his high school experience!

Friday Sept 20 cont
This was the pix SIL and J sent me.
Looks really good! But they didnt save me any and now I was a drink down. I didnt want to hang around England. The park was not crowded but the pub was. Reminded me of the “downtown” near my house. I can do that anytime. Let’s go to France!!! And off we went.
Truth time. I have never been in the bowels of the France Epcot pavilion. The reasons don’t matter. They wont lesson my shame. Today we went in. And we had our sights set on the Champagne sampler. And a restroom
I took detailed pictures as the CM poured the flight so we could remember which was which. (Ask me how that worked out!)
The pink one we could remember. The other two we mixed up as we were passing them around. SIL liked the pink. I prefered the other two. One was dryer than the other and that is the one I liked.
We headed inside Les Hailles (sp? @Tuvalu )
to look for a restroom and finish our champagne.
While SIL and I were in the ladies room J had an encounter with her first tipsy food and wine patron. A happy lady who had been standing nearby our table loved our shirts. She had to tell J how cute they were. Then she got so excited when she saw the hidden mickey in the cheese that she had to point it out to J. Like physically point. Like touch. Or grope if you prefer that term.
B found us just in time to taste a smidge and we were off.

LOVE your Food and Wine shirts!! So cute! What happened with your husband is terrible. I am so glad to be passed the high school years. Too much drama, and I have a very hard time with parents who "support" their kids when they are clearly wrong. Hope your son has a better experience going forward.

Friday Sept 20th cont
Like I said, I didn't take notes so if something was memorable I remembered it. (That wins the captain obvious award but you get it)
I remember B and I drooling over the fried hummus as we sat at the beach reading the menus. B ran to the booth in Morroco to get us one.
Spicy hummus fries with cucumber, tomatoes, onions, tzatziki and chipotle sauce
Even now it makes my mouth water but I dont remember it
I want to say it was awesome but I think I inhaled it so fast I didn't actually taste it.
Then I got this
I have no idea what it is. I see we were heading to Japan so I didn't get it from Italy. Maybe a mimosa as we left France? SIL and I shared (I have pix if that).
Then we headed to Japan because SIL wanted a Kirin draft beer. She had recently tried it and loves it. I worked in a fish market/restaurant one summer during college. We were right on the pier and sold live crabs. We had a huge asian tourist population so we had all the Japanese beers. I like them. Lets go to Japan.
Tipsy person encounter number two/three.
As we started walking down into Japan it was empty. But boy was it loud. Two big men: one big,short, bald and black and one big, tall, disheveled and red necked (not a judgement-he had a sunburned neck) were yelling at each other? And grappling? NO!!! They were hugging each other with one arm around each other’s neck (think;I cant breath) and they were each yelling how great the other one was. And they were telling each other how much they loved one another. The tall guy had some family nearby and his mom(?) was joining in while a few others gathered around. This was all done at the loudest possible volume.
We sat to take in the show and enjoy our beer.
We got bored of “I love you man you’re the greatest!!!” “NO, YOU’RE THE GREATEST!!!”
And we moved on.
YES!!!
Next I remember Italy. I took this picture for SIL. I think she was going to try it and wanted to remember what it was incase she liked it?
It was new and I dont see it in the festival book.
But we were in Italy for the food.
Another of my award winning photographs. Boy did I miss my calling.
We got the Ravioli. @Rista1313 had already warned me it was a big portion so we got one with 4 forks.
Ravioli Carbonara: Parmesan and Pecorino Ravioli, egg yolk, cream and bacon
This was really well done.
Ravioli carbonara is not earth shattering. You can get this at any good Italian restaurant but this was really high quality. First off, it was cooked perfectly. Second, it was seasoned perfectly which can be difficult with all the salty ingredients. Third, the textures were spot on. I highly recommend this dish.

Just got all caught up with your postings and WOW, a lot has happened!
Good job on getting up for the early, early opening at MK as that is no easy feat with four women traveling together. It's always nice to have a bit of pool time when it's hot and everyone is tired from early opening! Love all your stories and I can't get over the one with your husband and those two boys! It's crazy how the coach never said anything to them about their bad behavior on the field!!! Your champagne flight looked delicious along with your ravioli from Italy. You're doing a great job recalling what you did without taking notes! My brain is a sieve lately so I'm not sure I could recall my stories.
