Well fellow Potter fans, the wait is almost over. In just 6 days, we will have our hands on the most anticipated book of the summer. Hopefully, it will have been worth the wait.

This thread will be for speculation and discussion prior to and after the release of the book.

I'll be on vacation when it comes out. But not to fear, I have my copy reserved at an LA Barnes and Noble for me! I'll be reading it on the plane ride home! :D

I haven't read Order of the Phoenix since it first came out...so I've forgotten a few things. Is there a "Harry Potter Cliff's Notes" out there somewhere to bring me back up to speed before I start Half-Blood Prince? I did a search but couldn't find one.

I have decided to reread all of the HP books (starting from SS) before reading HBP. Sadly, I haven't had much time to concentrate to reading (all this summer fun keeps me busy!!) I am only at towards the end of CoS. It'll be a while before I get to HBP, but I do plan to buy it as soon as it comes out.

I'm getting it at Borders at Midnight! And no, I can assure you that Hagrid is not the half blood prince. Why do people always assume that the person who dies or becomes the half blood prince in the next books always assume its Hagrid?! My mom thinks that it probably might be Dudley Dursley. Why? Because he turns out to be one of JK Rowling's favourite characters, not to mention that he's the least likely person. It's possible the he could have magical blood from Aunt Petunia's side of the family, but Petunia didn't want a wizard for a son, so she told dumbledor that she would take care of Harry as long as they didn't admit Dudley to Hogwarts. Not to mention that it always turns out to be the least likely person. Which Dudley pretty much is.

Good theory, but I think I read an interview once where JK said we've seen as much of Dudley as we're going to and he's not going to change. He's always going to be the same obnoxious little brat. But maybe you're still right. It would be a nice twist.

I'm really quite upset that someones dying. I'm hoping its not Ron and Hermoine... I think those two need to go out. I know it's not going to be Harry, because that would be simply pathetic and there still is one more book needed in the series. Just one more.

What a depressing thought.

I'm just excited to see what's been happening...sadly, I happen to leave on the 16th to Greece... maybe I'll be able to find a copy somewhere in English.

I don't have enough money to buy it, so I guess I won't be getting it at the midnight release. Damn.

I hear that someone dies, but hopefully it's not yet ANOTHER main character. If it's Hermoine or Ron, good Goddess, J.K. wouldn't do that, would she?
As for who the "half-blood prince is", I'm thinking Neville, I don't know why. I know it's not Harry, Ron, or Draco...maybe by surprise it'll be Dudly! lol

Only a few days more! Psyched doesn't even come close to how I feel!
I'm receiving mine by pre-order, and it will arrive in the mail on Saturday.
Really looking forward to seeing more of Luna Lovegood, naturally. :sohappy:

It gives the high points.

As to who dies, I think it will be Dumbledore. In a classic hero quest, the mentor often dies to make way for the student (Harry) to defeat evil. If Dumbledore dies at the end of this one, that leaves the final book for Harry to defeat Voldemort.

How come everybody's favorite character dies...first Sirius and now Dumbledore, if its him.

But then again this is no ordinary classic hero quest....Can't wait for the book and the movie to come out! When are they coming out with a much better tralier then they have now?

Did I miss the part where Sirius died?...

Order of the Phoenix, near the end.

I'm getting mine at a local bookstore, which is offering a 20% discount. I know it's not the best price but I live 40 miles from Target/Borders/Sam's etc. and would like to keep my bookstore open.

I've "heard" rumors online that Fred and George are getting killed off. God, I hope not. Also, I think that we don't know everything about Neville (I think his memory's been modified) or Ginny (who is a 7th child and has been described as being powerful).

Who the Half-Blood Prince is...my vote is for Prince William! Okay, I'm joking. We haven't heard much about royalty among wizards. So I'm going to guess that it's a new character.

Well, I had the same idea. Unlike you though, I'm a quarter of the way done with OotP. I'm trying to finish it by Friday night.

Umbridge and Fudge are absolutely horrible!
