The new park commercials

He’s not wrong.
Life long fans who have spent many tens of thousands, are DVC members, annual passholders, and spend a lot of time on these forums don’t hate Disney, we just want the same or better experience and value as the parks continue to evolve.

However some decisions and obviously massive price increases tend to move the needle in the wrong direction and we are passionate about trying to voice our concerns. I wish more would and not just love everything they do as they’ll just keep doing it.

+/- only 1% or 2%??

That's a very interesting prediction. I dunno but I think this post will be a great one to bookmark and revist in 9 months.

Let's see how accurate your crystal ball is down the road...

Sure. I'm only going off of two decades of trends. This is all based on TEA reports.

WDW TOTAL ATTENDANCE %% Change vs. Previous year.
2009: +0.75%
2010: -0.86% (Wizarding World Opens)
2011: +0.74%
2012: +2.15%
2013: + 3.20%
2014: +2.64% (Diagon Alley Opens)
2015: +4.75%
2016 -0.56%
2017: +3.85% (Avatar)
2018: +4.21%
2019: +0.78% (Peak WDW Attendance)
2020: COVID
2021: COVID recovery
2022: COVID recovery
2023: +3.49%

Outside the pandemic, WDW never decreased attendace YOY by more than 1%. In fact they only decreased in overall attendance twice.

We don't know 2024 numbers yet obviously. But to say that WDW will gain somewhere between 1 and 2 percent is probably conservative. Their period of lowest GROWTH is during the great recession.

I am hoping 2025. 2026, 2027 and 2028 it will be less crowded because of all the construction and of course ....... EPIC ;)
Eh doubt that. They have things opening each year, so I expect some crowds. I think this summer could be pretty drastic due to Epic, but I'm not sure the first few months or last few months of the year will be the same.

Adult tears over vacations are uncouth…just my take

Stop being negative in a WDW discussion forum, you're ruining my magic!

I do understand that but what can you do about it? People are going to like what they like.

The people on this board may be passionate but there are a whole lot of people who simply enjoy WDW for what it is. Getting upset or sensitive about it or demeaning them for it won't change anything.

Careful he may call you a pixie duster hoping you get triggered.

So we should just praise them for everything they do and don’t do because anything the fans do or say won’t change anything?

This is why they continue to add so little and so slowly, shut things down and offer less in places while continuing to raise prices because they know some fans will just eat up anything they do and they can get away with it, for now

You're probably right. The passion is what drives all the posts about wishing how people would stop supporting the current iteration of Disney so the company will get back on track.

As a long-time visitor I understand that but I have no hope whatsoever that it's going to happen. That said, my family still has a great time at WDW. Our take is that we will enjoy it until we don't; hoping it changes seems unrealistic.

My thought is that it’s too much to ask consumers to act en masse to become a perfect counterbalance to pressure on corporations to increase profits. Maybe there is some solution to that (they’ve tried ESG scores and that quickly became controversial, but maybe more forays will be made in that direction, involving things like consumer satisfaction scores and employee wellbeing). The relentless pressure for profits is a systemic issue, I don’t think people should be responsible for canceling their much needed vacation as soon as the experience goes from a 9/10 to an 8/10.

What a strange rebuttal.

I'm not sure about praising them for everything they do; I see little of that anywhere. Most people are not at all happy with the constant price increases and the complicated mess they've made with paid ride reservations. I wish it cost less and was simpler - but again with the wishes.

That is exactly my point! This entire site is being overtaken by adult tears over vacations. They're just vacations; let people do what they like without the constant whining over their choices. The choices are theirs to make and they aren't going to change based on someone else's opinion.
I’ll grant you that

Though criticism tends to lead more to “teeth gnashing”

What a strange rebuttal.
This capitalism thing isn’t hard to grasp:

Supplier: create product, market product, charge what product will bear

Consumer: purchase product, spread loyalty to product, CRITICIZE product that is insufficient

So which category covers “don’t be mean to my Disney on fan forum”?

If something deserves to be criticized…it’s the consumers responsibility to say it to balance the market
