Trip Report The Never-Ending Summer Of Disney *COMPLETED*

Seriously?!!

Can you believe it??

This is jaw-dropping news!!

If only.

Two things in life give me the blues ~ the end of summer and the end of a Disney vacation. A never-ending summer of Disney would be a dream come true! But I am certainly happy to “settle” for a WDW vacay in June....in July....and in August. 😊And rather than write three separate trip reports (and annoy @amjt660 when my *COMPLETED* report really isn’t 😉) I decided to take @Rista1313 ’s suggestion and post an ongoing travelogue, à la @blgauger style.

So let’s get started!

Vacation #1
June 16-24, 2018
Tuvalu, Woody and Em get pampered at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Was there rain? Any snarky Cast Members? Ridiculous guest behavior? A Magic meet-up? How many times did we watch Happily Ever After?

You’ll have to follow along to find out.

That's too bad about the journal, from your description it would have been easy for them to find. It sounds like someone was too lazy and uncaring to either pass along the message and/or follow through on returning something. Or worse, it is still in the room because the room was never properly cleaned. :cautious::confused:

I knew of someone who stayed recently at the Beach Club and they were not allowed/given a room number until after 8 pm! Yikes, not good service!
Laziness and lack of care for sure! And if I hadn’t checked in at the front desk upon arrival, I would have been waiting until 8 pm for my room text too ~ that’s when I got it! :jawdrop:

I had the same thing happen at the Contemporary in December. I had taken photos of the room as we were leaving. While in the tragical I notice my flat iron on the bottom shelf in one of the pics. I immediately called lost and found. They were less than nice and my over $100 flat iron was gone. It shouldn’t be that hard to get your item retrieved when you know EXACTLY where they were left.
This makes me dually mad and sad.

Years ago I worked for a hotel management company (no connection to WDW). Guests would forget things more often than you'd think, but the follow through from housekeeping, etc., was very good. Once an item was found, management could call the guest and make arrangements to return it (usually via Fedex, etc.). It's not hard to do (especially with very good detailed description of the item and the location), and it really fosters goodwill between the hotel and guest--and promotes return visits.
This is absolutely what should be done for a guest when the item is found.

That’s a bummer about Em’s journal. Especially bc it wouldn’t have taken much effort for them to retrieve it. It’s amazing how different people are. This morning mousekeeping knocked on our door to wish us a great last day & asked if we needed anything else. It’s the little things that people do, or don’t do, that can make a big difference.
Attitude is everything!

I'm guessing it's more like someone from mousekeeping now has a nice new haunted mansion journal. It couldn't have grown legs and walked away, and the fact that they were told exactly where it was, it HAD to have been found. So my guess is that whoever cleaned the room kept it.
Our thoughts too. :bored:

oh my..again?? nice

been following along BTW:eek::cool:
Thanks for following, @StarBurst! 😁

This was a long hiatus for @Tuvalu. I think she may have been off property for at least 24 hours between trips this time. She's slacking, obviously . . . ;)
My even longer hiatus starts now......☹️

Your back after a month! No point in emptying your suitcase.

I seriously need you to adopt me, and get me into the US!

I am seriously missing my WDW home so bad right now... my vacation is taking forever to get here!

I guess I’ll be back to following your trip and no doubt BTMRR pics

Have fun :)
You know you are welcome to tag along with me anytime! And BTMRR has been closed a lot recently. 😟

YOU'RE BACK AGAIN!!!!???????? Already!!!!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!:p:p:p:p
Yay! Enjoy!
I can't wait until Tuvalu gets back so we can hear about Trip 3. Hope you are having the best time!
Thanks guys! We did enjoy our time very much. Details to come soon......

I wish! In Ohio, I've never seen a Chik-fil-a that "busy"
The location where we ate is highly trafficked, especially at lunchtime. I’m thinking the manager cleared the dining room for the celebrity toddler! :joyfull:

Vacation #3
August 25-29, 2018
The conclusion of my magical Disney summer ~ at my sentimental and beloved Polynesian Village Resort

Did rain dampen this trip too? What did Woody think of Slinky Dog Dash? Did we honestly attend a Halloween party in August(!)?? Public nakedness......did we really see what we thought we saw? (Nope, it wasn’t @BuddyThomas! 😉:joyfull:)

All details to come in the final installment of this (seemingly never-ending) TR.

I hope you took your rain slicker and your poncho and your umbrella and your floppy rain hat and your galoshes and and your swim cap and your Gramma's-rain-bonnet-that-folds-away-and-fits-right-next-to-your-purse-grapes / carrots!

But you're not one to let a little moisture dampen your spirits or your visit, so I know you had a blast! :geek:

Saturday, August 25

I had been experiencing conflicting emotions all week prior to departure day. While I was really looking forward to staying at my Poly home again, the vacation signaled the end of not only summer but the end of my monthly (since April) visits. Now I do not expect any of you to join my pity party....I am very aware of how fortunate I am to go to WDW so frequently while the majority of forum members cannot....but I wanted you to understand why I awakened at zero-dark-thirty in a melancholy state of mind.

Woody sensed my lack of enthusiasm and knew just what to say to put a smile on my face....one of the wonderful benefits of being together for over 3 decades. 😊

If it’s possible for cats to look nervous, Poly and Kona certainly did. Their behavior as we were preparing to leave reminded me of:

(Highly recommend this movie, but have Kleenex handy!)

I reassured them that Em would be moving in later that night and they would be showered with affection, but neither looked like they believed me. 😹

Thanks to it being very early morning (and a Saturday) we breezed down the interstate to the Atlanta airport. Woody and I typically have Chick-fil-A for breakfast on Saturday and today would be no exception.

Our plane took off on time and landed early (which would NOT be the case on our return flight). So far so good!

The check in line for DME was short and we were immediately instructed to board the bus. We got the last two seats ~ which happened to be in the first row!

Moments later the driver pulled the bus away from the curb. If you want to know what our driver was like I suggest you read @riverside ‘s current TR, as I am fairly certain we had the same “knowledgeable” driver. 🙄

During our ride I received a “Your room is not yet ready” text. I was thrilled ~ not because our room wasn’t ready, but that I actually got a text. The Poly is notoriously bad at sending room texts.

Since we had front row seats we had a great view of the entrance!

(Yes, I know the picture is blurry. The bus was traveling at 50 mph and I was using an old iPhone. 😉)

The driver said we’d be making three stops ~ Polynesian, Grand Floridian and Ft. Wilderness. I became excited when I thought we’d be first....but the driver changed his course and went to Ft. Wilderness, where only ONE couple disembarked.

“How come they got Shirley treatment?” I snarked at Woody.
“They forgot you were on the bus,” he winked at me.

It wasn’t much longer and we were home. 😍
