Eh, it's a good lesson to teach your kids, but blending educational facts about the other potential moons in the universe with the mythical world of Pandora will just confuse them too much... hell, it even confuses me. I recommend that you take them to the Kennedy Space Center if you want them to learn about other moons. If you want your kids to learn something in Pandora, teach them how the rides work and how the artistry comes together with current technology in the theme park to make something beautiful. That's much more concrete and interesting (not to mention hands-on, which is exactly what Pandora will be) to a child when they set foot into a new environment. Exploration and how stuff works are the ways to learn in the amazing world of Pandora. Not far off moons. Otherwise you're just going to hear, "Dad, you know it's just a movie, right? But how do they make the plants glow and play music to you when you touch them?"
Omg... I can't believe I'm talking about if I had kids... Wow... I'm just saying... An attraction like Pandora would capture their interest. While they're interested, teach them enough basics about the subject to make them want to learn more. I can think of no better way to make them want to learn...

In our house, we call it: "Pandora: Not The Girl With the Box, But The Ham-fisted Environmental Diatribe With the Blue People." Probably too long to print on brochures and signs, though...

That being said, whatever they call it, I'm sure we'll visit and find it very attractive.

Wow. I'm actually trembling after reading that. I'm not sure if that post was meant to be scary, but my conception of Avatar has forever been altered and I will never be able to watch the movies the same way again!

I think having some education about the potential for life on other planets is an interesting concept for WDW but is not appropriate at a themed Pandora land. That would be a better fit at, say, a general Space pavilion attached to M:S in Epcot.

No because that's about space travel and rockets. Astrobiology is a new scientific field that fits better in a theme park about animals. Pandora just happens to be about space animals. Perfect fit!

I'm probably going to get booed for this post, but AK still needs educations value for every non-educational new attraction. That said, Pandora should have an exhibition about why the elements of Pandora that make life possible there, or any planet or moon in the Universe.
Animal Kingdom has plenty of educational qualities. (Though we really ought to still have our poacher story.) Pandora doesn't need to be educational. As Rhode said: it will be transformational. There will be a sense of enlightenment and discovery. All it needs to be is a celebration of conservation that will capture guest's imaginations.

Haven't seen this posted yet, but there's an interesting article up on /film about Avatarland.
http://www.slashfilm.com/pandora-the-land-of-avatar-name/

It mentions some specifics on the level of sophistication of the Na'vi animatronics as well as mentioning the tentative name:
Pandora: The Land of Avatar

I was unaware of any confirmation on advanced animatronic work being done, so I see that as a positive. But I haven't been keeping up on the Avatarland news as much as I could be, so perhaps this old to some of you here.

Figured this would be useful in this thread too.
Tentative-
