exactly, or stepping back in time to the old west...or land of fantasy...

Disney is about the experience...making you believe you really could be on Pandora...and from all of the concept art...this place is going to be incredible. I don't understand all of the hate.
The hate stems from then realization that all of the wonderful technology being created this year for it will be outdated by the time it opens in 2020 or beyond.

Suspension of disbelief is broken when - instead of having to cross oceans - you need to cross interstellar space to get to the next land. How do you transition that? It would have to use a completely different transition than the other lands.

No more suspension of disbelief required than a midevil castle at the end of a turn of the century American town.

James Cameron probably wants Avatar in the name somewhere. He will be using this land to market his movies as much as or more than the other way around.
They could name it Ratava ("rat-ava"). That's Avatar backwards. Cameron gets to keep Avatar within the name and Rat Ava sound like it could be a new Disney character that Mickey just doesn't know what to do with because (a) Ava's a rat (not a mouse) and (b) she's a female rat with an attitude!

Or "Natasoarin"...

One problem with (initially) calling it only "Pandora" is some people will think it is a place to (a) buy jewelry/bracelets, or (b) pick your favorite music to listen to ("Fountains of Wayne Radio", anyone?).

Actually, I like the name and attraction ideas in this leaked plan that ultimately was canned in favor of the current one.... (Click thumbnails to view)

I think the "The lands of Avatar" or "World of Avatar" make sense...

Pandora while sounds nice, may not reflect what Cameron is doing in the next films...Is pandora the only location, or are there moons that will be explored? There has to be more than what we've been offered info wise to dictate why they aren't limiting it to just "Pandora"

The land is themed to Pandora. End of story. Look at the models.
