The Muppet Kingdom

I just saw on Allears that the Muppets are getting their own show in the Magic Kingdom this fall. For some reason, I'm not sure I really like the idea of the Muppets being in the Magic Kingdom. Anybody else feel kinda conflicted about this? For the record, I adore the Muppets in general. I'm just more of a "purist" about the MK and think of it more as a place for more traditionally animated characters.

I just dont get it?? They have somewhat a whole area dedicated to them and possibly a land coming up for them at Hollywood Studios and they get a show at the Magic Kingdom? Okay then..

No flaming, just opinions. As in all new things, I'm gonna wait and see how they do it before judging. Overall I like the idea as long as the tone is not too slap-sticky.

I really like the idea. I love the Muppets and I think that them giving a history lesson could be both entertaining and educational. I also think that they are very all-American so I think that they will fit in well in LS.

that works...it is going to be nice to have a new (and humorous show) in that area.

i'm not opposed to having muppets appear in MK. A patriotic show could be fun if done well. Theres no rule that characters cant cross boundaries. I'd love to see more of Sam Eagle.

The theme of Liberty Square is not just vaguely patriotic. The Muppets have nothing to do with Liberty Square.

The tie-in is Sam Eagle. He's ALL patriotic, and the other Muppets relate to him on that level.

I liked Disney when it treated American history with dignity. The kind of Disney that has 13 lanterns, in a Liberty tree, that has a cast of the Liberty Bell, and a thoughtful show about US presidents. I derived a certain knowledge and respect for America's traditions from it. Turning it into a Muppet Show is just infantile.

We...um...don't hold our leaders in same regard as the Brits do the Royals.

Crass is what us Americans do best. We have one foot firmly planted in civilized society.

I love the Muppets too and welcome a new show starring them. I wonder if this is a permanent show or if perhaps it is a test for a larger show in the Muppet area at the Studios. What I do hope is that it is the "actual" Mupppets and not the slightly scary walk around characters. I find them a little disturbing!
