The most annoying thing at WDW?

I hate Disney buses. I really do.

And then the times guides NEVER being right. I usually point out atleast one inaccuracy a week to someone at some guest relations. Of course no one ever cares and no one tries to get the system fixed so they are correct, but i try.

Then the next one is CMs who don't speak english very well being placed in high-speil or guest contact areas. I shouldn't be trying to interpet for guest relations CMs at Epcot, and I haven't been the jungle cruise with someone who spoke english as the skipper in months. There are certainly other jobs they can be doing at WDW, but having full boats of people not understanding a joke on the jungle cruise or having me have to point, explain, rephrase, point again for guest relations is wrong. Fluency should be a requirement for those positions.

I agree with rude guests. Also, guests visiting from other countries who can't speak ONE WORD of English. How can you enjoy WDW without understanding basically everything the attractions are saying, singing, etc?! Maybe Epcot is ok for them to visit if their country is in World Showcase. I wouldn't go to another country without knowing SOME of their language. It's ignorant.

I don't think that ANYONE comes here without speaking ONE WORD of English. On the contrary, I think Americans go to OTHER countries and often expect THEM to speak English. I think people might come here thinking they can get by with "Hello"; "How are you?"; "Where's the bathroom"; and a lot of places in Orlando such as hotels and restaurants and attractions have multilingual staff because they know that people are coming from all over the world and a lot of people research this in advance. I went to France in 11th grade. I spoke Spanish, but it was for a school trip. I tried to learn some French but I found that 3 languages was too much for me then. I knew that we would find some English speakers there though. I didn't feel like i was "ignorant" for going. Also, if I wanted to go to Euro Disney, or Tokyo Disney, I wouldn't feel ignorant either. I have no intention of learning French and Japanese. You can't learn the language of every country, especially if you're a traveler. I plan to visit Italy, France, Spain, Japan, and Mexico at least in my lifetime, and Spanish is enough for me.

There is very little if anything that annoys me. That being said, one thing that has been mentioned here already is when a parade or show is about to start and you've been waiting an hour to secure a good viewing spot (so small children can see) and other people, usually with no small children, push in front of you. That drives me crazy. It's a no win situation. Either you ignore it but then don't see the parade of you say something and risk an incident at the very time you least want an incident. Like when you are trying to enjoy your vacation without any stress.

I completely agree. I don't believe there's anything wrong with guests who don't speak fluent English - it's a fun experience for them. When I went to Germany, I only spoke a little...enough for me to get around.

What I do have a problem with (and this is general, not just specific to Disney) is people who do not have a good grasp on the English language being put into positions where they deal in customer service. Phone companies, banks, clerks, waiters, etc. It is not only a disservice to us, but to them as well.

I speak English. I am in the United States, an English speaking country. I would expect (and not unreasonably) that if I have a problem or question, I will be able to find someone who speaks English.

At Disney especially. We went to the Prime Time 50's for lunch with two friends who hadn't gone there before. My best friend Kate and I promised them an ABSOLUTE blast...especially if the staff is on their game. Quick witted insults, jabs about where you're from, elbows off the table, etc.

We ended up with a very nice waitress; there is no denying this. But we could barely understand what she was saying. I can't recall where she was from - eastern Europe, or near Asia for certain. She could make no jokes, couldn't follow any of our questions (except for ones about the menu, which we had to point and then ask), and though she was a nice woman, we didn't have very much fun. Meanwhile, all the tables around us are laughing like crazy. It made me bitter.

BTW, sorry I've posted in this thread so much today - very crabby:rolleyes:

Normally love almost everything about WDW...in fact, maybe I'll take a ten minute break and plan a fake vacation online.:animwink:

Yes, the Tiki room birds are highly annoying. But I suppose I could have walked out. With Stitch's Escape (unfortunately he never escapes permanently from the park) you literally are a captive audience.

Sure, crowds are annoying, but we're all part of the crowds. I try to go when it's less crowded, and people are probably less stressed and better behaved then.

The most annoying thing to me, is not "at" Disney, but a side effect of a Disney trip. I LOVE planning all our trips with great detail, but especially Disney trips. Don't get me wrong, I don't plan every minute of everyday, but they are well thought out. Anyway, I get so annoyed when my co-workers or friends, say things like "Your kids are too young to remember any of this" or "Why do you waste so much money on going there when you could go to Mexico for that?" or the one hate the most "That is going to be so expensive, how much is it going to cost?"
My responses, "I'm not going for my children's memories, I'm going for my own memories" and "I don't like Mexico, but I LOVE WDW!" and "Are you my CPA? That's a very rude thing to ask. How much did your new boobies/nose/tummy cost?"

Old and disabled people going around on golf carts where they face the opposite way.

when you first arrive at the airport your busy carrying all your luggage from gate 150!!! and their nice enough to give you a smile and a wave, talk about rub it in.

other than that long queues, strollers hitting your leg, people putting kids on their shoulders during a firework show.:fork: :fork:

other than that Disney World is the best place on earth:)

I can't tell who's kidding and who's being sarcastic about being annoyed by guests who can't speak English. That seems kind of ridiculous and ignorant. Although, to be stereotypical myself, it seems as if the American guests are far more often the ones to be spoiled, insatiable, constantly complaining.

The most annoying thing in Disney to me, other than it not being located in Columbus Ohio and being free is drunk teenage yuppees in the parks who talk about how drunk they are. The last time I was there was the worst, on Soarin' sitting next to a group of teenagers drunk and possibly on X. It was the first time I was on the ride and I couldn't appreciate it because of them.

I completely agree with Buzz Lightyear's queue, I'll take test track's music over that any day.

lately it's the ATV's... and then it's the people who use the strollers to carry their stuff and end up carrying the kids... and then it's parents who don't know how to figure out when the kids are tired enough to give up and go back to their hotel and rest. then it's the people who think Disney is nothing more than an amusement park with rides...

and I will think of more I imagine...

--People who use their strollers to push their way through the park...I'm sick of being run over :fork: ...Just wait until I have kids and can fight back :p

--People who need to be in the park at every possible moment to "get the most of what they paid for" and are dragging a small, cranky, screaming child behind them who just needs some more sleep...ruins the fun for the child and everyone nearby who has to listen to them scream, cry, throw a fit

--People who stop right in front of you or big groups who feel the need to talk right in the middle of the path and completely block the path for everyone else

All in all nothing that is specific to Disney...just can't tolerate stupid people:p

Rude & uneducated guests. I don't mean everybody needs a college degree to go to the park, but it drives me nuts to hear the people incorrectly spouting out Disney information in the park. I don't think everyone needs to be a total Disneyphile, either, but a little research before you go couldn't hurt.

people that argue with you because they won't share a 6ft space for you to stand to watch the fireworks or a show even though there is more than enough, like their children will take up that much space. Then said person purposly blows their cigarette smoke in your face. I'm not bashing smokers, but don't blow it directly into another guest face. Also the mother that decides that her child should get the better viewing of the fireworks becasue she paid over $1,000 for her kids to come to a disney park. Dumb arguement imo because we all pay a similar amount (though there are a few exceptions)

People who stop right in our tracks.
South American tour groups who randomly break out in song.
South American tour groups who don't know english and decide to talk during a show cause they don't understand.

And Above all (and no offense but.....)

Men with sleeve-less (sp) shirts who are wayyyyyyyy tooooo HAIRY!!!!

Trust me, none of us want to see that.

One more thing... People wearing Universal tee's in WDW. Sounds kind of silly but I find it annoying. Sort of like a gang-fight-turf-invasion-thingy.

In a Jets versus Sharks sort of way.

I'm most annoyed by the evildoers who let loose sneaky pants poofs in line. You try to determine who cut the queso, but the culprit usually feigns ignorance and carries on as if they aren't responsible for the foul, fetid stench in the air. For shame!

First, a little off topic, but I hear you on people about the cost of a trip! Funny story, though... My 5 year old asked last night how much $ our Disney trip will cost. I explained to her and our 9 year old the cost for our family and my mom and sister. (6 of us, 2 rooms, 7 nights MYW with Dining Plan). I told them the cost and their mouths dropped to the floor!! I explained we had all been saving up for a while for this trip. Then my 9 year old proclaims "I thought Disney World was supposed to be a magical place!!!" I guess he thought the magic was free!

As a recovering type A personality, I try not to relive these annoying events. However, line jumping and being shoved out of your prime parade spot after sitting for an hour can take a little magic out of a trip. Anything else, I can ignore because I'm at WDW!!!
