The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Look, she was great in her role and all, but the more media appearances she makes, the more I understand why Disney fired her.

I guess I just don't understand what she's trying to accomplish. There's a zero percent chance Disney gives her the job back-even more so now-and I don't think going on an "I was fired for being too popular" tour is the career win that she seems to think it is.

Maybe it's just about keeping yourself in the spotlight so that you can get noticed for future gigs, but if that's the case, that seemingly validates Disney's decision even more to send her on her way.

They spent all that money on the safety railing, Alice is not due for any more investment for another 25 years.

lol it’s quite the railing though. Don’t forget the tasteful projection upgrades.

I’m just going to keep throwing things out in the universe. It worked for the Coco ride and Avatar E ticket boat ride in the Hollywood Backlot/ bus transpo area. But yeah I’m not expecting anything. I’ll settle for some good merch.

It's interesting and a bit ironic that WDW is getting a bunch of meaningful but small updates, while DLR is the resort comparatively sitting on their hands.
DLR has had a bunch of updates over the last 10 years that WDW didn't get. So really its a pendulum that swings back and forth with the domestic Parks.

Also I think they are more worried about the entire Resort projects under construction or about the start construction right now rather than small updates to existing attractions.

Even still, I do expect them to announce small updates at D23 this year and in 2028 for DLs 75th and other anniversaries around the Resort.

I was going to say… Disneyland has not really let the rides stagnate, they’ve continuously made updates and improvements.

Disney World is just finally playing catch up.

Oh some of it is absolutely WDW playing catch-up, but unless I'm forgetting something, DLR has been woefully short on small little plussing sorts of projects for the last five years or so.

I guess Adventureland Treehouse and the Toontown refresh could count, but what else?

2021 brought a few updates, Jungle Cruise got a refresh with new scenes new scenes, Snow White’s Enchanted Wish update

Haunted Mansion got a new pet cemetery, queue and bride over the last couple of years.

Storybook Land added Rapunzel last year

Fair I suppose.

I guess I'm just having a hard time focusing on what has been done when it's much easier for me to focus on things that IMO need help and/or could use some upgrades.

Buzz Lightyear definitely is the worst offender. The ride has been exactly the same for 21 years and that’s not saying much because even since its opening, it has always proved lackluster.

What updates would you like to see?

-Buzz, of course.
-The promised electric cars (and new scenery) for Autopia
-New Tomorrowland more generally
-Fix the Fantasmic dragon and at the very least add the Queen back to the show; ideally, do all of those things and made additional, logical changes
-Fix the Piranhas or get something better as the finale at Jungle Cruise.
-Less redundant scenes at Jungle Cruise (not asking them to go back to what was, but we don't need 50 million monkey scenes either).
-Show in the Hyperion
-Fix whatever they messed up to make the loop so bumpy on Incredicoaster (for extra credit, chuck Incredicoaster entirely and go back to Screamin').
-Replace Sky School with literally anything else.

In addition to other housekeeping concerns:
-Bring back Magic Happens and run it daily.
-Add/restore more small entertainment acts, particularly at DCA
-Stop closing the Opera House and Rise early
-Junk Believe in Holiday Magic for a more modern show (see also: Christmas Fantasy)
-Restore cuts to Festival of the Holidays made in 2025 to 2026 and subsequent Holiday seasons
-I'm sure there's no universe where HMH actually starts in November, but I'd be happy with going back to having it start in September again rather than August.
-(Longest, most long-term complaint) Stop breaking DCA for no reason other than stupid IP updates that don't need to happen.

Wow, you’re like a seven year old writing a Christmas list for Santa lol. I love it!!!!!
You are right about the monkey scenes for Jungle Cruise, it truly is overkill and the Pirañas work like 50% of the time and when they do work, it’s not very impressive. Sky Skool is an eyesore but I really hope that one day all the rides in paradise Park are replaced with something more permanent looking.
I too am annoyed when the Opera House closes at 8pm, sometimes I leave at 9 and I like going there as a kiss goodnight if you will but I always walk up to closed doors. The reason I think they are not updating Buzz while literally every other single buzz is currently or already has been updated is because the new tomorrowland idea is still up in the air and they just don’t wanna invest. What was the last real update to Tomorrowland?? Star Tours the Adventures Continue? That was fifteen years ago. I’m Hoping a great big beautiful Damaro is just an expo away.

MJ is currently trending positively as he’s not one of the demons on the Epstein list. Also MJ movie is coming out in a couple months. TL theatre is still sitting empty. Time for a Captain Eo comeback?
