Id also embrace Frozen at Disneyland but would be wary of where they put it and how it's executed. I'd give Moana the honor of last good Disney movie but I do prefer Frozen to Moana. I remember leaving the theatre with my wife and we commented that it was the first Disney movie we had seen in a long time that felt like one of the classics or renaissance films. Wasn't crazy about Moana after my first viewing but its grown on me.

I think the below are the last good all around movie for each studio:

Disney - Moana
Pixar - Coco
Star Wars - Force Awakens
Marvel - End Game (even though I prefer Infinity War)
My list:

Disney -Zootopia
Pixar - Luca
Star Wars - Empire Strikes Back
Marvel - Haven’t seen enough to judge. I loved Sam Rami’s first Spiderman, though.

Moana is ok. I like the character and happily accept her as part of the Disney Princess canon, but I find the movie itself to be subpar. The lack of villain or love story really hurt it in my eyes. I also can't stand the Rock and I'm not a fan of Lin Manuel Miranda's music, either.

I liked Inside Out 2, even though it wasn't as good as the first, but if not IO2 then I would agree Coco stands out. Crazy to think that between 2014 and 2024, Pixar has only 2 movies I would really consider classics.

No love for Rogue One? I admit, I didn't enjoy the first few times I saw it but seeing what Lucasfilm has produced since I have a much greater appreciation for it.

The article begins:

Here are two things that recently happened in very quick succession: my oldest son opened his laptop and said: “Daddy! There’s a new Snow White trailer!” And then, less than two minutes after that, he shrieked: “Daddy! These dwarves are TERRIFYING!”

And it goes on from there.
This comment isn't thrown at you Parteecia since you just cut and paste from the article, but it is surprising how not just many, but most people get this wrong.....even journalists.

There's always debates as to whether the plural of Dwarf is Dwarfs or Dwarves. It has basically been made acceptable now to use either one, but it was Tolkien that deliberately coined (and popularized) the usage of Dwarves to be the name of the race in his novels because he wanted it to be similar to the plural of Elf being Elves. It was then copied around most fantasy literature and also included in popular games like Dungeons & Dragons.

Personally I'm not a huge stickler for the correct spelling of words that can be spelled in multiple ways, but in the context of Snow White, Walt did use Dwarfs.

Maybe Peter Dinklage has an opinion on this? ;)

Not sure what it is but the Inside Out movies just don’t hold my attention. Admittedly that’s a lot of movies for me these days.

No I enjoyed Rogue One (especially the ending) but Force Awakens just felt big and was more fun.

I rewatched The Force Awakens teaser recently. Crazy to think that was over 10 years ago now. The hype for that movie was insane. My local theater still didn't have reserve seats back then so my friends and I waited hours in line that night. Even though the movie wasn't all that great in hindsight, everything surrounding it was fantastic. I wish we could have Star Wars like that again but has completely destroyed that brand. It would take 15 years of no new Star Wars content at all to even get close to that level of excitement. Honestly, it might even take Disney dropping Lucasfilm entirely to generate excitement for Star Wars again.

Maybe because The Guardian and the author are English? Other than that, he was quoting his son.

Almost 5 years later, (apparently) the full preshow video is back at Indy.
Looks like a recent change this week.

No way. This would be huge. We’ve been lied to before. I won’t believe it until I hear “Looks like somebody got a raise in his allowance” for myself.

Micro Review of Planet Coaster 2:

Yes. Holy— Yes.

One could write a book about how great this game is. In fact, one could literally write and illustrate a book with the tools in this game.

Ok, I see @Parteecia already posted something about this trailer. Here it is if anyone missed it.

Oh. My. God. I don't think I've ever been viscerally angry about a movie trailer before. What in the name of Walt did I just watch? I really hope that it is just a bad trailer, because the tone is ALL WRONG. The modern music is bad. The dwarves are terrifying. And.... and.... Snow White is a freedom fighter now? What????

Weird…weird.

The Snow White freedom fighter scene looks like it has potential though. This must be where she makes her father proud and becomes the warrior she was always meant to be. She’s becoming “the leader that her father told her she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave and true.” I actually kind of like where they re going with it. Breath of fresh air to have a heroine for once. Elsa/ Anna x2 Judy Hopps, Moana x2 , Raya, Mirabel, Asha, Rey, Captain Marvel, the new super hero Bo Peep from Toy Story 4 etc were all boring stereotypical damsels in distress so it kind of made sense to do something fresh and reinvent the old dated Snow White so she could appeal to modern audiences. They kind of had to do it.

I would agree with you about it seeming inevitable except that Universal already turned Snow White into a freedom fighter a few years back. Incidentally, that was my first thought after acclimating to the dwarf's baffling designs. It seems so strange to me that they would be cribbing a rival studios attempt at distinguishing themselves from the Disney original. Then again, the remake seems to be full of questionable creative choices. I can't be the only one who had Shrek come to mind after watching the trailer.

So Snow White wants to overthrow her step mother because she thinks the people need kindness and her step mother wanted to get to rid of the hot guy?

I guess that's better than Asha trying to overthrow the government even though the people are happy but don't get every wish granted.

The one time they shouldve just done a tax write off instead of releasing a movie.
