Looking for a bit of advice.. between the 14th and the 21st (Saturdays in December), which do y’all think would be a more manageable visit to Disneyland?

I know both will be busy, of course. But the 21st has all passes blocked out and costs 10 bucks more, which I am thinking may drive some folks away, but it is closer to Xmas so you never know. The 14th has the most expensive annual pass unblocked and all those reservations are taken so I know they will be there in force.

Which would you recommend between the two? Appreciate any and all thoughts.

I’d go with the 14th. There’s just that many more people in holiday mode on the 21st than the week before. Of course the 14th you ll have some Inspire Keys getting their last Christmas trip in but I just think it’s a safer bet. I don’t think it’s a huge difference in crowds but it very well could be. Ultimately I’d probably go with which date had the better weather, get there early and buy Genie + or whatever they’re calling it now.

EDIT: but these things fluctuate all the time. I’m reminded of that surprising holiday ticket offering. If they felt the need to offer that than perhaps it’s possible that going on a day where all key holders are blacked out is better. Unless of course too many people take them up on that offer haha.

So how does this make sense?

Disney's Theme Park Division Reports Lowest Profit In Two Years

His view was reflected in the results of a 2023 survey by price-comparison website LendingTree which found that 60% of people who have never been to a Disney park said that cost was the main reason. Worryingly, the survey also concluded that the average amount of debt that Americans get to visit Disney parks comes to $1,690 and 41% of them regretted taking it out.

Forgot to mention one important thing. On the 21st you’ll have more people that are inclined to purchase lightning lane. The more pasholders that are in the park, the less people there are buying lightning lanes and that’s a good thing for you. Even if the crowds are comparable the lines will be shorter on the 14th

How can people buy LL and pack the park while Disney reduces entertainment and services and they still are seeing the lowest profit in two years? It can't be entirely foreign parks.

What kind of moron is going into debt over a vacation?

Wanted something cozy and wintery but not necessarily Christmas-y so I put on Frozen. Genuinely good movie and probably the last all around good Disney movie. I would fully embrace more Frozen representation in Disneyland, though I would prefer it to be something other than the current Frozen attractions that exist.

The article begins:

Here are two things that recently happened in very quick succession: my oldest son opened his laptop and said: “Daddy! There’s a new Snow White trailer!” And then, less than two minutes after that, he shrieked: “Daddy! These dwarves are TERRIFYING!”

And it goes on from there.

Isn’t it weird (but not terribly surprising) how Frozen does not have a ride at DLR.

I’d vote for Zootopia as the last good movie from Disney Animation. And Encanto’s a fun, unique try at something different…

Those CGI dwarves are possibly the worst, ugliest things I’ve ever seen. And this is coming from someone who sat through Cats.

Seriously, I’d love to see them next do a live action Mickey Mouse movie using this horrific style. 😄

Once again, today’s Disney makes the world ask, “How did this happen?!?!?”

Zootopia has aged poorly imo.

Not Moana? (Later the same year as Zootopia)…that would be my vote.

Id also embrace Frozen at Disneyland but would be wary of where they put it and how it's executed. I'd give Moana the honor of last good Disney movie but I do prefer Frozen to Moana. I remember leaving the theatre with my wife and we commented that it was the first Disney movie we had seen in a long time that felt like one of the classics or renaissance films. Wasn't crazy about Moana after my first viewing but its grown on me.

I think the below are the last good all around movie for each studio:

Disney - Moana
Pixar - Coco
Star Wars - Force Awakens
Marvel - End Game (even though I prefer Infinity War)

I disagree (though it’s the type of comedy/mystery that’s kind of a one-and-done), but I am not excited for the sequel. Yet.

But I’d certainly say Frozen is the last Grand Slam home run. I think it’s been over-marketed/exploited (in everything except Disneyland attractions), but that’s not the movie’s fault. It’s the last one that made me say “Instant Classic.”
