IJA was posted 40min but I took FB's advice and looked at standby and LL queues and knew it wasn't 40. Ended up being 20.

It's 9:30 and everything is still pretty much walk on. MMRR is 10 and Space is 20.

Quoting myself here. Uh, gang.... are we absolutely sure that the best of use of Anaheim's limited park expansion space is to build a new version of Avatarland?

Did anyone get a blue alien on their doorstep this Halloween? Looking online real quick at the Christmas toy offerings on Target.com, there's not an Avatar department or any Avatar presence of any kind this Christmas.

Those of you here with children, are you aware of any Avatar cultural impact at your child's school or social group?

I get it, the movies are financially successful and are visually impressive to watch. But culturally? Merchandise? T-shirts?

I'm not seeing it. Why would Avatar be a big expensive new land in Anaheim? There's nothing else they could do?
Well "we" don't get a choice in the matter, that is what Disney is building.

As for whether its the "best use", Disney sees over 2.3 Billion reasons to think its the best use, and they are the one spending the money to build it. We're not that far removed from Avatar 2 breaking $2.3B WW, only 2 years. And now only 13 months away from Avatar 3, which I have no doubts will come close to that as well if not surpass it.

So maybe your "Halloween costume" metric is a bit off on this one.

I'm driving home tomorrow from the airport and I looked at the weather. Dry, clear, and cool in the Southwest, but I see there's a huge storm spinning down out of the Gulf of Alaska tomorrow and Wednesday. HUGE amounts of rain and very high winds from northern California up the Oregon coast. Four feet of snow for Northern California. I hope our coastal NorCal friends like @Practical Pig up in that beautiful corner of the world have prepared and our ready to hunker down!

October and November is often a very stormy month for the Northwest coast. There was a giant storm over Columbus Day weekend in 1962 that would have created a total social media meltdown if it happened today; dozens of deaths, widespread flooding and destruction, power out for weeks across several states, etc. The newly built Space Needle in the closing days of the World's Fair swayed wildly in the hurricane force winds and was evacuated by using the stairs.

We didn't have fancy words like "atmospheric river" and "bomb cyclone" back then, we just called them big storms. Simpler times without trendy and scary words. But I hope everyone up in that corner of our country stays safe the next few days!

For the rest of us, you did clean out your gutters to get ready for winter, right? 🤔

Yeah, today's a tier-1 day.

The evolution of Disneyland crowds is fascinating and always in flux as Disney changes their strategies, ticket prices and MK blackouts often. In addition, over time people adapt and change plans accordingly. I wonder how long until some people start actively avoiding Tier 0 and Tier 1 days for this reason and maybe it balances out.

Good question. The weird thing is that the attraction wait times aren't that bad. It's like people are just here to wander around. 🤷‍♂️

Park must be full of lower tier MKs just content to walk around the park. Which would then beg the question - why is a Tier 1 day to begin with ?

Seeing as the animated HTTYD is my all-time favorite animated film, I’ve never had a more mixed reaction to a trailer than I had to this. I mean… What’s there looks spot-on with the three main characters, but… but… Toothless looks exactly the same… which is… both a relief and a disappointment at the same time? As is all the scenes being pretty much EXACTLY the same? Is ANYTHING going to be different?

A YouTube commenter put it hilariously perfectly: “An animated version of this would be sick!”

If it doesn't star Jay Baruchel as Hiccup then I don't want to see it. I mean they got Gerard Butler to reprise his role, so why not Jay.
