Disney has been softening the grooming guidelines for well over a decade. You can even find threads from back then about it on this site for WDW -It won’t happen overnight but there are things that can be done. Quietly and slowly moving certain (news grabbing employees) to new jobs. They can amend the new guidelines. Guidelines change all the time. It won’t go back to 1955 but I can’t see why the couldn’t reel it back in a bit.

Its only been the recent things that some find extreme. So yeah I don't see them going back to guidelines even from 5 years ago.
My guess is that newer standards like beards and tattoos are likely here to stay. Maybe some things like nail polish for men get scaled back. But other than that I don't see much more being scaled back.
