I don’t care for Haunted Mansion Holiday at all, but each year its wait times are outrageous; clearly people unwaveringly adore it. Can’t really blame Disney for giving people what they want.

At least the general public and I agree that Dial of Destiny is a total mess. No need to worry about any shoehorned changes to Temple of the Forbidden Eye.

I just saw on my old weather station feed that the July 4th temperatures in central OC (Anaheim) are forecast to break the record low temperature for the date in records going back to the 1860's.

Record low for central OC is 62 set back in 2005, but this years July 4th low temp is forecast to be 59. Brrrr.

Enjoy it SoCal, and take a sweatshirt to the fireworks, because other parts of the country are sizzling.

Haunted Mansion Holiday should be for Christmas time only. Criminal that the OG ride is not open during Halloween Time.
I’d prefer HMH to go away completely, but that’s for sure not happening for obvious reasons. So, since it’s staying, I agree that it should only go down for the Christmas season, not for both Halloween and Christmas. It’s a naturally spooky attraction already; adding NBC to it for Halloween is silly.

Yeah it’s definitely not going anywhere. Shut the ride down November 1st, open it as HMH when it’s ready.

Yeah it’s pretty ridiculous. Although I’m enjoying classic HM less and less these days. Between the claustrophobic hall of portraits where we’re stuffed like cattle for 10 minutes and those darn playful spooks consistently interrupting our ride 3-4 times.

Continuing my California Adventure, stopping by the Santa Fe Depot and looked upon the Coronado Navy Base. San Diego is a great place to celebrate the Fourth.

Ugh, yeah. Both can ruin the experience.

I find HM is best enjoyed between 8-10am or after like 10:30pm. With less people, it’s a more intimate, charming experience.

I was today years old when I learned Temple of Doom is the prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Learn something every day.

"According to George Lucas, the decision to make the film a prequel boils down to the fact that the creators didn't want to use Nazis as the bad guys again."

Believe me, the wait and area to board the buggies at WDW is even worse.

I'd love to know why HM is plagued by that issue in a way that is noticeably worse than the other omnimovers.

I love doing Mansion the last hour of the day. You can do it repeatedly because no one's back there (Pirates is the same way). The only caveat is that it's much easier to see the big ugly empty black walls, in the loading area especially. I feel like every trip I ride Mansion for the first time during the day and think to myself that it seems like they finally fixed the lighting. Then I go at night and realize that it's mostly just how much my eyes have adjusted to the darkness.

Morning Mansion is great, but it used to be during normal Mansion season Pirates would fill first and Mansion would be quieter for a little while longer. Now that Mansion has Genie but Pirates does not, the Mansion line gets longer quicker than Pirates. It's very annoying.

Happy Independence Day!

It was truly a great one this year, wasn't it? 247 Years of Fabulousness 🇺🇸 🥳 🇺🇸

A few random Independence Day thoughts;
  • I had no idea that Utahns smuggled in as many illegal or Indian Reservation fireworks as Californians did. The weekend was mild for fireworks, but tonight was wild. 🤣
  • I was the judge of a kids Bike & ATV Parade in my development late this afternoon, where the kids and young teens decorated their bikes and ATV's in Americana decor and drove proudly around the community center and pickleball courts (and one lone tennis court, my how times have changed). I tried to be as grand as possible while awarding the ribbons, summoning my inner Sam The Eagle crossed with Simon Cowell. I gave out two "Grand Judges" awards; one to a young girl on a bike who was (of course) doing a fabulous Patriotic Barbie theme, and one to a teen boy who decorated his ATV in honor of his Navy Vet dad. I had a few other ribbons to distribute for "Most Colorful", and then two dozen ribbons labeled "Patriotism Award" that went to all the other kids. Cute as hell, those kids. 😍
  • What must have Disneyland been like tonight without Fantasmic to help distribute the crowds??? I shudder to think of how many people tried to cram themselves into the Hub by 9:30pm tonight. Yikes. God help those crowd control CM's, and I can only hope they are safely ensconced in the local CM watering hole by now two hours before Last Call. Josh D'Amaro owes them a round. o_O
  • Two neighbor moms told me this evening I was a great parade Judge and asked if I'd do it again next year. Twist my arm, ladies.

Las Vegas has a new icon, The Sphere performance globe at the Venetian Resort that seats over 18,000 people and is many times larger than Epcot's Spaceship Earth.

Earlier tonight they turned on its first external light show in honor of America. Very cool stuff and very cool tech.
