Speaking of Tron, a vlog of a very pleasant looking walk through the MK popped up on YouTube and I found myself thinking that I’ll probably enjoy MK more than I think. Looked like a version of Disneyland with DCA space. Lots of areas looked very pleasant with lots of space and a lot of big planters/ greenery…. And then I saw it. From Goofys Barnstormer facing Tomorrowland. The view of the that massive Tron show building from there is unacceptable. Why don’t they care about these things anymore? Something about it bein

Something about it being at a castle park makes it even worse. We’ve come to accept these views at a Studios park.

In a couple years once the trees grow it won't be so bad. Also they could add billboards or even some fake trees to hide it.

“In a couple of years it won’t look so bad” sounds like a new slogan for Disney.

It can sit there alongside, “It’s SUPPOSED to look like a cheap and tacky parking lot carnival! That’s the theme!”

And “We’ll hide the barges with fountains. It’ll be fine.”

If there was any justice in the world, Hong Kong would still have their beautiful, electrically-powered Autopia, WDW's ugly, embarassing Speedway would be long gone, and Tron wouldn't look so ridiculous and lazy…
I’m getting the uneasy feeling Tomorrowland Speedway is like the One Ring of Sauron: It cannot be destroyed by any craft Disney possesses.

Yeah it’s terrible, and they built two of them at the same time that manage to do so much sightline damage from so many places.

Oh and also, I don’t know if I have a picture, but this thing was blocking the view of the epcot ball from my hotel room. Tough to ignore!

Yikes! Going to take some California Redwoods to block that GOTG building.

Is it possible there is some future expansion for that area in front of the Tron show building in the pic I shared / TL speedway that will block out the views of the building?

Nothing changes more than my IN-N-OUT order. Current I’m at a Double Single (I’ve been finding the double cheese to be too dominating a flavor with those tiny two oz parties). No raw onion. Add chopped banana peppers at home per bite as desired for the acidity. Feel like this might be my order for a while. Tomato is back too. I had been omitting it for a while. Adds a needed freshness. Still don’t recommend it in there unless the burger is being consumed right away. Cools the burger down and gets soggy.

Ok I see you. Except for the onion. Can’t do it. Was doing the add pickle for a while. And always Coke. No Diet Coke
Diet Coke is actually disgusting. I haven’t let it touch my taste buds in many years.

Their onions are very strong. My mom gets both raw and grilled. I’ve never tried the peppers! I’m currently eating very, very little to no meat at all (especially red meat), but I will try the peppers next time.

I just learned that Jimmy Carter has entered hospice care at age 98 (!!!), and I immediately thought "Big Thunder Mountain". Stay with me...

I didn't vote for President Carter in either '76 or '80, and I respectfully disagree with about 75% of his policy positions when he was in office. I don't envy that he was President at a very difficult time in American history. But he is truly a Great American for many reasons.

He was a decorated officer in the US Navy. He was a good and loyal husband to Rosalyn, and a loving, involved father to his daughter Amy. Never a hint of impropriety or dishonesty from him in his personal or professional political life. He is a true Southern Gentleman in the best sense of the phrase. After leaving the White House and retiring back in Georgia in his very modest rural house, he continued to teach Sunday School at his local church for decades! (I think that's adorable!)

And during a Late Disco Era visit to Southern California, President Carter (and a few Secret Service guys) went for a morning jog around Disneyland! The Disney press photographers staged their cameras right in front of the then brand new Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in a newly revamped Frontierland. I remember this press picture well, somehow it got burned into my memory banks in a weird way that when I heard Jimmy Carter's name on the news for the first time in decades today, I instantly thought of this...

Godspeed, President Carter! Thank you for your service!

P.S. I wish I'd kept a few cans of Billy Beer to toast him with!

Don't forget Habitat for Humanity.

His Secret Service team is interesting. I thought shirts were required in Disneyland.

Oh, my gosh, you're right! That's a wonderful thing.

I remember reading an article a few years ago, so I went and Googled. When he retired from the White House he moved back to his original home he and Rosalyn purchased in 1961 in Plains, Georgia. It's a very modest ranch home on a quiet street. He's lived there since 1961, except for his stints in the Georgia governor's mansion or the White House. It looks like a house a successful insurance salesman would live in circa 1975.

Can you imagine such a thing today?!? A man living off a career government salary living in a modest home he could afford... on a career government salary? President Carter is truly the last of that breed of politician. God bless him for that! 😍🇺🇸

It looks like this was pre-opening. Or, more likely, on a Monday or Tuesday when the park was closed for the day. 🤣

There are no trees there, and even if there were, they wouldn’t grow in “a couple years.” And fake trees would be pointlessly expensive. They could move real trees there, they could add billboards, but they’re evidently not going to. They could’ve themed the building, they could’ve built something different, etc. I’m not giving them a pass just because it’s physically possible for them to solve the problem if they choose to, and neither will most people.

There are trees along the train track so that should hopefully cover the show building

Show me a picture once those “trees” (mostly shrubs) grow tall enough to block the building. Or have one of your great grandchildren put it beside my tombstone! At least the air ducts might be blocked one day.

The reason they have the building switch colors like that is because they knew it would be visible and have no plans to change it. They even leaned into it with the bathroom design.

Right. Why not start with some taller trees if that’s the intent? This is reminding me of the Big Blue Dumbo Wall at Disneyland. Eventually, 4 years after they built it they planted some climbing roses (I think) to help cover it up. They re a solid 4 feet tall now and cover about 10% of the wall.

It’s amazing how even now that it’s done people are still pushing that this area will be something more. The plans showed this years ago. Now it’s here and yet it still somehow might not really but what is happening.
