Haha is that where your name comes from?
It is. All my life my last name has been mispronounced. How hard is it to make a soft-h sound? It's been Herbie, Hrub, Hreb. Most annoying.

Ah man, that's sad. I've never been to that region of the country. Sadder still when you realize how much of the country has been ravaged due to war.
Someday I will find those missing records. My family immigrated to the US in 1885 and settled in Nebraska to be farmers. I'm think I'm related to most of the people in Wahoo, Nebraska.

I hope you do find them! Genealogies are truly fascinating.

A few years ago my fianceé discovered that she had an ancestor from Norway who has an island named after her because she did something important during WWII (or something to that effect). She and her mom went out there to visit a couple summers ago and they actually discovered more relatives still living on the island!

That's rad. Genealogy is one of my hobbies. That is why I need to do more traveling.

I was supposed to be in Czech this summer... :(

Mám prújem.

I went for the first time in Summer of 2018 and it was incredible. We went to Prague and went around the area checking out typical tourist things like the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, etc. as well as going back to the village my mom lived in before she fled the country and getting a tour of the village. It was incredibly beautiful there and I am extremely grateful to have gone and I hope to go back again somewhat soon and stay with family. One cool thing is my family actually stayed at the hotel that they used the lobby to film Spider-Man: Far From Home in. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and I miss being there.
My grandparents would speak Czech when they didn't want the kids to know what they were talking about. My dad learned Czech just to find out what they were talking about. He would constantly correct them on their grammar.

I've tried many times to learn Czech but it is such a strange language to learn. My dad has learned bits and pieces of Czech, he tried to learn more for our trip but it was pretty tough for him to learn as well. My dad and brothers have all picked up on some Czech over the years, my mom / grandparents have taught us some words / phrases / etc. but we are all also able to sorta just pick up on what they're talking about without necessarily knowing the actual translation.
That's wonderful. I trace my ancestry to my great great great grandfather born in 1810 in Hradec Králové , Czech. I've had trouble going back any further since the church our family records where stored in was destroyed in WWI.

My mom is from Milín but I'm not sure how far back our family records go, I am sorry your family records were destroyed. I think I need to talk with my grandparents and see how far back we can trace our family tree, I would be very interested

I decided to watch Star Wars, Episode 1 and 2 last night on Disney+. I haven't seen either one of them since I saw them in the movie theater (!!). My Misc. thoughts:

1. Episode 1 wasn't as bad as I remembered. Jar Jar still sucks.
2. I still find Episode 2 cringe-worthy. It's disappointing on so many levels. What a missed opportunity. BUT, in its defense, it does have less Jar Jar.

I'm going to watch Episode 3 tonight. Again, I haven't seen it since it first came out. I remember thinking it was better than the other two, but still only at the level of "meh". We'll see if I still agree.... I'm curious if I will enjoy it more or less than the most recent trilogy. :)

As always... just my silly opinions. YMMV.
