The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

But to play Devils advocate - D’amaro just got named CEO. Maybe he wants to make some big splashy announcement. Considering Iger is still there though would it be D’amaro making the announcement? Feels like he wouldn’t get full credit if it was announced now.
Which makes it less likely to be something related to a 3rd gate or a TL redo. He'd wait until D23 when he is fully installed as CEO and a few months under his belt, and then make the big splash of an announcement.

That is why I think this is just something related to the groundbreaking of EGW/New Harbor Entrance, and use it as a peak into DLForward to point that as a "future of Disneyland Resort". Basically something "boring" that won't get much headlines otherwise, with a look toward the future. Plus the timing is too on the nose, with the permits just getting filed this past week.

Third gate announcement incoming

Or new TL

Or Frozen ride/ land

Are they really going to have everyone fly out for more details on things that have already been announced? I guess that’s possible.

Yup! The last time this crowd was gathered it was a Tropical Americas deep dive at imagineering in Epcot; or there was another event with a bunch of 2026 date announcements for WDW projects just before Floridas D23.

It could very well be a project cycle update on DCA/EGW.

Unless something we don’t know about is going to be permitted before D23, I think those announcements are saved. But the company sometimes does weird things.

Hey I’ll gladly take some more info on any of the DCA projects. If see one more post about a beam signing at the Avengers ride I’ll lose it.

With the permit to demolish the TDA east building being filed, they really need to share details on the new EGW and parking garage soon. And it makes sense that Disney wants all the influencers to report on what THEY THEMSELVES experienced at Glendale instead of reporting on what was announced by Disney alone, because if it was the latter, they may be more prone to weave critical “What do the businesses along Harbor think?” angles into their stories.

Not that Disney isn’t making any concessions to the Harbor businesses this time. But they’d like to control the narrative as much as they can.

Maybe it’s packaged with confirmation of the city gondola system?

From Scott Gustin substack:

The Park Hopper restriction is going away later this year

Another operational change is on the way.

Later this year, Disneyland will eliminate the 11 a.m. Park Hopper rule. Currently, guests must begin their day in their reserved park and wait until 11 a.m. before switching to the other park.

Once the change takes effect, guests will be able to move freely between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure throughout the day, similar to how the policy worked prior to 2020. Additional details about implementation will be released later this year.

Park reservations, however, are staying. During the briefing, Mazloum acknowledged reservations can be a friction point for frequent visitors. He said resort leaders have discussed ways to restore more spontaneity to a Disneyland visit while maintaining demand management.

Unfortunately not the big announcements we thought they would be making. But still a plus over all for those that Park Hop.

Is that it ? Haha they re doing announcing stuff? Meh the 11 am never really affected me as I don’t get there until after then usually but happy for the people who are happy. It was a bigger deal for me when they moved it from 1pm to 11am.

I don't Park Hop at all, so doesn't affect me one bit. But I know its important for those that do, so I'm happy for them. Might also even out the crowds a bit more.

As for if further announcements may come today, don't know. But they usually don't hold multiple announcements back to release in the same day.

Seems these announcement where made yesterday at some meeting with a media blackout until this morning. Drew Smith posted a nighttime video at Monsters inc this morning with his reaction to the news.

I mean the good news should mean it makes reservations a teeny easier, as park hopper just means you need the day to be available, regardless of which park.

For normal ticket buyers, only time you’ll need to pick a park now is for single park tickets.
