And so you don't think that ones taste buds are personalized to what we prefer, from savory to sweet to spice? For example someone that is allergic to a certain type of food isn't going to be attune to the subtleties that you are picking up on with that same food, or any other number of factors that determine how we taste food. This is why food is very personalized to everyone, you can't just say something regarding taste as a universal fact when not everyone tastes things that same way.

Please stop with this nonsense. I’ve entertained it for long enough.

Its not nonsense, its truth, one with science behind it.

In reality for you mint chip tastes less sweet than other favors for the reasons you listed, and I don't argue with that for you. But for me that doesn't apply, just like it may not apply to anyone else outside of you.

You mention cilantro, I hate the stuff. As I said its become one of the most overused herbs in cooking today. To me it adds a spicy flavor that I don't like. But when I describe that to people they don't know what I'm talking about because they like it. Just like some people think it adds a soapy taste, due to a genetic factor, but I never pick up on that and many don't because they don't have that same genetic factor that turns its taste into a soapy taste.

The chemistry of taste buds is a very interesting thing. Its why some dedicate their whole lives to it.

Of course there are nuances to it all. Cilantro like you said tastes like soap to some people. But to say that most people wouldn’t perceive Mint Chip to be less sweet than Cookies n Cream due to the semi sweet chocolate chips (and Cookies n Cream not having an equivalent component) is disingenuous at best and I’m done now. ✌️

Come on my friend, disingenuous? Seriously? I think its easy to see that this is open to personal preference based on ones own taste buds. You even acknowledge that taste buds play a role in it.

But if you think there is some consensus out there that backs up your claim that its a universal truth that a majority of people will say that mint chip is less sweet I'm happy to review it.

This site is a welcoming and supportive place for for lovers of any ice cream flavor. Even peanut butter ice cream lovers 😉

I mean sure but Cotton Candy ice cream is gross. But I will say I was at a party at Chuck E Cheese last weekend and they served cotton candy flavored Dippin Dots and they weren’t awful. I attribute that mostly to the fact that they were Dippin Dots though.

For me it’s near the bottom of the list because it tastes like straight sugar. I’ve never had dipping dots but they do not look good:

Peanut Butter ice cream is great! Or rather any ice cream with Reese’s. Want to talk over rated ice cream though? Rocky Road.
Can't stand the taste of peanut butter anything. But the weird thing is every once in awhile I'll have a peanut butter cup just for the nostalgia factor of the holidays like Halloween and Christmas.

I enjoy the texture of them but before last weekend I hadn’t had them in years.

And no Cotton Candy ice cream is equally sweet to any other ice cream and it’s just your preference that it tastes sweeter. And even if we infused rapini, Brussel sprouts or arugula into it would do absolutely nothing to change your perception of that flavor. It would still taste just as sweet as if those things weren’t there.
