no. never. not even once I don't think.

I can appreciate that. It doesn’t happen to me often. It kind of reminds of when I was younger and would have random out of body experiences when starting at a mirror which would prompt me to ask myself “who am I?” Almost as if the image I was seeing and my soul/being were disconnected for a second. It hasn’t happened to me in adulthood. So ya there’s that.

Lisa and I went to Knott's for a few hours today, checking out the "Peanuts Celebration", and was really impressed with what they did, lots of Characters everywhere, lots of shows and special exhibits, 3-D photo ops and a scavenger hunt, where they placed kites in trees throughout the park, and kids needed to find them. Not really too much money wise, I bet some of the character costumes came from other parks like CGA, since they are closed for the season, but still, very well done.

Also, Snoopy's HQ closed after the first of the year, but was partially open, now called Peanuts Headquarters, using the old space, and the former "In the Game" area. They removed some windows, and looks better from the outside.

And a personal note, this is the first time since almost dying a year ago that I actually walked the entire visit (no wheelchair or ECV). Now, I was wearing leg/ankle braces and using a walker, but went about 8/10th of a mile total, but with stops....

So....despite the parks being in my back yard now and when I lived in Orlando...yesterday marked my FIRST trip EVER to Universal...

long story short...color me not impressed.

Same. I have no desire. I wouldn't have gone back last summer if it wouldn't be for my kids wanting to see Harry Potter. And now that we did that, I'd be fine never going again.

I just walked around thinking how disjointed and haphazard and non-immersive it was. Unlike Disney, I didn't feel like I was stepping away from the "real world" and into a magical place. It had all the flavors of a movie studio trying to make a carnival on their incredibly small footprint of land.

Perhaps the most jarring for me though was walking down their "England" street, and right smack between two British stores...was the entrance to the Walking Dead attraction?!?!?!?

Unfortunately, I was gifted a season pass for Christmas, and so I'll probably end up having to go again at some point :/
At least there's a VooDoo donuts at City Walk!

I thought VooDoo was super over rated. Have you tried them yet?

And even worse, a day ticket there is about the same as Disneyland. If they're gonna price themselves the same, I'd expect the same overall level of quality.

A *really* well done Super Nintendo World is the only thing that will get me back to USH. And if they're not getting all 3 rides, I'll just wait until I get to Florida.

I excitedly made a beeline to Voodoo Donuts on my first visit to Portland and was disappointed. "Sugar" is the only word I can think of to adequately describe any of their donut offerings.

That’s pretty accurate. I figured going in, that it was mostly about the designs and not really the flavor... but I was still disappointed. They didn’t even taste fresh at the City Walk location. I remember thinking I like the Chinese owned hole in the wall donut shop next to the liquor store near my house 100x more. Don’t even get me started on the buttermilk bars from Primo’s in Santa Monica. And of course, a nice hot Krispy Kreme glazed blow them away.

Maybe overpriced and often way too busy because of the hype... but I'm not sure I'd say they are overrated! Because they are always slammed, the donuts are super fresh and they are pretty massive in size compared to other donut shops. The ODB and Memphis Mafia are both crazy good and I feel no shame paying the $$$ for either of them. Those two alone have been enough to split three-ways with my wife and kid and I still felt full and nauseous afterwards (the good kind), so you do get a lot of mileage out of them! :)

Quality would be ideal of course, but their real shortcoming is in quantity. Hopefully Nintendo World will go a ways toward correcting that.

I grew up going to Uni Hollywood as a kid, always enjoyed it but it was a much different park back then. The tour was THE highlight of the visit. We went a handful of years ago, still enjoy the tour and would like to go back to see Potter. Can't really do the ride but would love to see what they've built.

Whatever the tour used to be, my impression last trip was extremely hokey and way too infused with advertisements. Tell me why I should care about driving by a faded set from The Grinch or going through the neighborhood from Desperate Housewives? Can you get any more dated and irrelevant?
