A couple misc. thoughts from trip today. Already left my thoughts on the new bride on the HM thread 👎🏼

Why do they lock the Star Tours scenes for so long after they introduce a new scene? They have so many other fun scenes. I get for maybe a couple months or however long Season of the Force lasts in the Spring or maybe even through Summer but almost a year later and we’re doing Space Whales on every ride? I get that I’m an MK but I don’t think very many non MKs are going to DL for the new Star Tours scenes at this point. On a brighter note, I don’t have to go see a Chiropractor anymore. During the last lightspeed as the simulator aggressively moves back one of the vertebrae in my mid back popped back into place. Hurt like hell for a second but feels pretty good now.

Hot Honey Chicken sandwich from Golden Horseshoe was good. A little difficult to eat on the go as it sort of falls apart but it was like a little taste of old school KFC on a Hawaiian roll. The coleslaw was very KFC like and the chicken they use is nice n crispy with a flavor that reminds me of the old honey bbq wings from KFC if anyone remembers those. Just with a kick. New sliders at Galactic Grill weren’t half bad either.

I think they just forget about it and cast members aren't going to reset it.

This just looks kind of off brand for Cars Land to me. I’m not loving the bright red. Overall the trellis just doesn’t feel right for that space and looks a bit awkward to me. Disney has been kind of over doing it at times lately. This reminds me of all the excessive signs and banners on TBA. Not to mention there is no garden to be found and I don’t like how the trellis intersects with the planters fences. More of that “telling us” instead of “showing us” theming. Man, some of these imagineers just don’t have it. It’s totally unnecessary and just having the seating with the umbrellas there was fine.

Why are so quick to blame the Imagineers ?

When most likely it’s TDA who requested this and were given a simple budget to get this set up.

The full HTTYD live action remake trailer just dropped, and I have never been more flummoxed by a film preview in all my life

Except for Stoick’s speech at the start, everything in this trailer is a near-exact recreation of a moment in the original.

Normally, I’d HATE this approach. But I’m a huge fan of the original HTTYD animated film, and I think that classic’s screenplay and direction/storyboarding are rock-solid perfect. Changing much would—most likely—just result in an inferior retelling.

So… I’m approaching this as a unique and surreal experience. I know the story’s going to be great, because it certainly appears as though they haven’t changed anything. It will be a novelty to see Gerard Butler play the same character he voice acted in the original trilogy, and I really am looking forward to seeing the Isle of Berk, the Viking Tribe, and all the different dragon species in photorealistic detail.

In fact, I’m going to try to orchestrate this so that in one day I can watch the original at home, go see the remake in a theater at Citywalk, and then take a shuttle to Epic Universe and step into Berk the theme park land. And eat the Thawfest platter. :D
