I’d like to see a temporary Soarin overlay (although I’d probably prefer this to Soarin Around the World) of all of Disneys famous animated flights.

I’ve said it a few times but some of these scenes and songs are the heart of the Walt Disney company and it’s a shame we can only experience them from a parade or spectacular (or dated 3D show). Where we have to camp out for hours or fight the crowds. I think the Soarin ride system with some of these scenes would be a match made in Heaven. Threw in some Pixar options too.

The idea of this is cool, but not as an overlay to Soarin'. You and I both know the original would never come back. I still believe World's days are numbered and the OG will be back permanently at some point.

I think it would. I think they re big on seasonal overlays and offerings now. This could be the Summer or Holiday overlay. This is the kind of attraction where something like this could work. Id definitely enjoy it more then World.

I’d like to see what a purpose built attraction for this concept looks like but where would you put a Disney greatest hits ride? Maybe Hollywoodland but that’s on it way out.

Don't give them ideas, they'll read this and it will be "Soarin' into The Wonderful World of Disney" for the next decade.

Happy D Day to all freedom loving people everywhere!

Can you believe that just 10 years before Disneyland began construction, Europe was on the brink of falling to the hate and evil of the National Socialist German party?!? And then came the true horrors of D Day, and the intense battle to retake Europe and defeat the Germans took place over that summer of '44. But just a decade later, America had prevailed and thanks to so many brave Americans that gave their life to defeat the Germans and the Japanese, Walt could start building something dedicated solely to happiness and "the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America".

So many of those D Day and World War II vets came home and started families in the new sunshiny suburbs, many in OC who ended up working at Disneyland as CM's. And bringing their kids to Disneyland. Rinse and repeat for generations.

Congratulations to SpaceX for a spectacularly epic Starship test flight yesterday. Special shout out to "the little flap that could". What a fabulous show!

Incredible! Someone tell me again why Josh D'Amaro hasn't asked Elon Musk to install a SpaceX exhibit in any of Tomorrowland's vacant and abandoned buildings again?

I watch those SpaceX launches live on YouTube sometimes, and I don't think I will ever stop marveling at the SpaceX technology that allows the to land the rocket back on a floating platform or the launch pad.

And then when the SpaceX team of young people erupts into cheers and high fives, I get goosebumps. I can only imagine how hard they work, and what a sense of accomplishment that is.

Okay kids, it's time to get us back to the Moon and onward to Mars!

Considering Elon has personally attacked Disney many times (and still does) for being too woke and calling them groomers, I highly doubt they'd want to have any of his companies sponsor an attraction.

Tesla's valuation has been crumbling as he's neglected the company after pushing so hard for Cybertruck, which he personally admitted was a horrible decision and almost destroyed the company. And now every unit produced / delivered got recalled because the accelerator would stick at 100% throttle if the glued on metal cover on the pedal slid off

He bought Twitter at an inflated price as a meme, backpedaled on it until courts ordered him to complete the purchase at the offered inflated price, then crashed the value Twitter did have. Investors left in droves, many haven't returned. And especially with him begging the board of directors to give him his payout, he needs money.

To be fair, Disney would love his cost / corner cutting measures and he could continue their current trend of removing anything good from the park because it isn't creating a direct profit / isn't profitable enough.

We don't need Twitter, we don't need most social media, but there is value to it along with the myriad of issues it causes. I'm just saying, from a purely financial / business standpoint, Twitter went from a $44 billion evaluation to now $12.5 billion under Elon's leadership. Not a great business move to cut over $30 billion out of your newly acquired company's valuation due to being such a deeply unlikeable person and disrupting the operations of your company to the point the product dips in quality / functionality.

Fascinating. But something tells me even after all that, Elon will still be able to cover his bar tabs. The Washington Post reports that his personal net worth in mid 2024 is just a hair over $200 Billion (Two Hundred Billion US Dollars).

But more importantly for this Tomorrowland discussion, is he still taking us back to the Moon via SpaceX?

When Apollo 11 landed on the Moon in July, 1969, Disneyland set up giant video screens showing it live in Tomorrowland. Okay, well, this was a "giant" screen for us in 1969. And I love the "big" 27 inch TV's flanking the stage.

I wonder how Disney will handle that if SpaceX goes to the Moon and Disney execs don't want to give Elon Musk or his SpaceX team credit for that? Maybe they introduce new popcorn buckets on the other side of the park that day and hope no one notices we went back to the Moon?

That got me thinking... Did Elon really lose all his money and I didn't know about it? So I Googled.

By coincidence, Forbes Magazine just released an article on Wednesday, June 5th on the 10 wealthiest people on the planet currently. Elon Musk is #1. Although to be fair, it's all rather pointless once you've gone over a net worth of $50 Billion or so. Anyone know anyone with a net worth of only $50 Million, with an humble M instead of B? I don't.

One other thing I learned. Mr. Musk is only 52. His best earning years are still ahead of him. If there really is a feud between Bob Iger and Elon Musk, Mr. Iger needs to swallow his pride and bury the hatchet. Get SpaceX into an exhibit in one of any of the currently abandoned Tommorrowland buildings!

I Googled again. As of 2024 and his return to the company, Bob Iger has a net worth of approximately $140 Million to $300 Million in 2024. Sources vary wildly, but the highest estimate is $300 Million

150 Million is 0.07% of 208 Billion.
300 Million is 0.14% of 208 Billion.

Makes ya think, doesn't it? I wonder if Bob Iger is eating Top Ramen for dinner tonight? Probably not. But still...
