I think WDW won Memorial Day Weekend in terms of the show-premiere battle. I can't stop thinking about Dreams That Soar and how soon we can get something like it in Disneyland.

Something about drones in nighttime spectaculars didn't click with me until Dreams That Soar; I feel like other shows (Electrical Sky Parade, D-Light, Power the Night, and Battle in the Sky) didn't have enough drones to keep the show moving and keep the pace fast, or otherwise had a really small canvas of sky it worked with, or even the drones just felt slow to move and transition. I rarely felt restless with the Disney Springs show, and I was surprised at times how fast they could move/even look like fireworks.

This has become my favorite theme park-related video of all time. Great observations, intelligent criticism and a wonderful sense of humor; it held my attention for the entire 4 hours. So glad to see it getting so many views (Nearly 5 million in a week!!!) 😃

And the “Disney Saying ‘Immersion’ Too Often” montage should be released separately as its own comedy short. 😀 Maybe set to music.
You wouldn't have a timestamp for that would you?

God I forgot how much they promised for Star wars Land..."

This was one of my major takeaways as well. I don't often think about Galaxy's Edge these days. But 5 years after the land's much-hyped opening, I think we can safely blame guests' tepid reception on Disney WAY over-promising and dramatically under-delivering. WDI and Chapek played up the angle that "there will be consequences for guests' actions" in nearly every interview. And then that feature was nowhere to be found in the land, and they never mentioned it again.

Jenny's video is great. I appreciate her explanation of the difference between being able to afford a product/experience, and that product/experience actually being a good value. Many of my fellow Angelenos behave as if they've never considered this distinction, haha.

Fart jokes. Didn't we once have an entire thread dedicated to discussing fart jokes and their socio-cultural implications? 🤣

Aside from that, I'm kind of intrigued by this Epic Universe thing. I've been mulling a visit to see it in late '25 or the winter of '26, just to wander around and ride the mild stuff and do some of the shows, then spend a day at Epcot to say my goodbyes to that park that has fallen so tragically. Then bid Orlando adieu, likely for the last time.

I'd like to stay in one of the new swanky hotels that Orlando has now; the Ritz Carlton or the Waldorf Astoria, just to splurge and be dumb. You can't take it with you!

TP, this is DreamWorks we are talking about here…..so fart jokes should not be a surprise.
It’s a given.
😉

And when you DO decide your dates for your future Orlando venture, let me know!
I still owe you a real lobster roll!

Just a reminder that Walt Disney’s cartoon shorts and early animated features were loaded with tons of butt-humor and, as one of the original animators put it, “thinly-disguised fart gags.” Nowadays, like nearly everything else in our culture, things are certainly more manners-out-the-window, especially with some (not all) Dreamworks and Illumination films.

But one huge, wonderful exception for Dreamworks is “How To Train your Dragon,” which, in a rarity for the studio, contains not a single fart or bodily fluid gag (in a film about Vikings and Dragons!) I’m very, very happy that this is the Dreamworks franchise getting its own land in Epic Universe.

That is such a great point.

As a genetic Swede descended from a particularly stylish clan of ancient Vikings, who was raised by Swedish-American immigrants who certainly never let any bodily functions be noticeable at any time, this makes me happy. :)🇸🇪

And it makes a lot of sense. Farts and bodily functions in Scandinavia are best left to the Norwegians, the poor dears.🇳🇴

Hoth Spire Outpost?

Lighting looks great.
I took this while waiting for the fireworks show. They give a bunch of kids (and some adults) lightsabers and the droid on the ledge (right side of pic) gives a speech about the force and at the end has everyone yell "'Til the spire!" as they raise their sabers.....then the fireworks show starts. It was great hearing John William's music blasted throughout the area.

Hot take....I honestly preferred watching the firework from there than on Main Street. Better music and you are much closer.

Sonic Boom Alert!

Listening to talk radio, and they just mentioned that the Southwest USA could hear a sonic boom in 10 minutes as SpaceX launches another rocket from Vandenburgh Space Force Base at 3:20pm Pacific time. Apparently the needed trajectory is such that it may cause a noticeable sonic boom to be heard from SoCal to Las Vegas to Phoenix.

Will they hear it at Disneyland, I wonder? BOOM!

I remember there being a sonic boom back in, what, 2009? I believe it was for the Endeavour's re-entry? Quite a while ago now, I'm forgetting the specifics, but I very much remember it happening.

This is the first time I've been really, truly upset by a change and I can't tell if I'm being overdramatic. Zellige tile is an art form integral to Moroccan culture; to replace it with tile worthy of a bathroom in DHS is offensive.

I agree, I am far more upset about this than any IP integration, or possible ride rethemes.

Disney likes to talk about authenticity, and then does this? It's a disgrace, and hypocritical.

That is too bad about the tile work redo, the original was so much better and representative of the culture.
