The Mandalorian

Nobody is going to cancel their subscriptions over this. She can be easily written out. To be honest, just not having her turn up again wouldn’t be too odd in itself.

Disney does need to decide where they fall on actors they don’t want to work with. They flip flop a lot, mainly based on social media pressure

Yes, but context is important. People aren't turning on their neighbors, putting them into gas chambers and killing over a million of them just because of their religious beliefs. Find another comparison, there are plenty of other historical examples she could have used.
i agree i think nazi/jew historical comparison are lazy and redundant. there are a billion other historical examples that could be used. That said, it takes like 3 seconds to find other disney employees who have made inappropriate comparisons using nazis/jews.

why isnt pedro punished for his tweet? its not accurate at all. Is it because disney is sexist? lol

the whole situation is dumb, i dont even think she is a good actress ha i just feel for her as i've personally seen many others have their jobs and reputations attacked by people like this. Its a terrible way for society to function.

Agree, they should all be held to the same standard. Perhaps Pedro got a pass because he has not shown an history or trend of questionable tweets? Or maybe there is more to it that led to her not being rehired.

Because Pedro Pascal hasn't been a problem child on social media for over half a year now.

You know what, she’s isn’t the best actress but I do think she really suited the role of Cara Dune really well. Just a shame she kept pushing as it’s costed her.

Im not interested in a recast.

Don’t be surprised if Disney try and end the Mandalorian within the next 2 series. Sometimes the politics aren’t worth it long term

On top of her most recent tweet, there were social media posts questioning the use of masks and vaccines. Classic COVID-denying.

Then there was the post alleging widespread voter fraud that 'needed to be investigated.'

I would guess that in light of the attack on Congress over the baseless claim of the election being 'stolen' was the real tipping point. There is zero tolerance for that given what it led to.

The most current post was the perfect opportunity to announce a separation from her.

The sharpness of Disney's denunciation of her recent post seems to me that this was a long time coming and were fed up with her.

Her talent agency has also dropped her.

Neither of them have been problem children on social media, those who overreact to posts on social media are. Those who behave as if anything Pedro or Gina has posted on social media harms or hurts them in any way are the problem children. Those who freak out because someone else has a different point of view and somehow, someway, that's going to harm them personally are problem children and Disney is a problem parent for thinking the opinions of those children need to be acted upon.

Agreed. I can relate with what happens here sometimes. There comes a point when it has to happen and yesterday was the perfect opportunity.

Next season seems like it's going to mainly focus on Mandolore and the Mandalorian culture with the main conflict being between Mando and Bo Katen. Cara Dune is not an integral part of the story and can easily be written out if they're not willing to recast (assuming she was ever planned to be in S3, considering she was going to get her own spinoff).

There is no reason for Disney to cancel Mando over this. At all

This feels like a total non-issue. I enjoyed her on the series, it's hardly make or break for her to part ways with it. She was a recurring cast member, but appeared in a minority number of episodes. That's neither to under or oversell her.

If she just never appears again in Season Three, it really won't matter. Had they gone with her as the lead of her own series, of course that would be a different story. But her character already has had a reasonable arc anyways.

Mandalorian is already getting fairly stuffed with characters.

Totally a different story if this was Pedro.

Yup. The real problem is it's repeated behavior, over and over again, even after apparently being warned.
yes repeated behavior of saying republican things lol how dare she!

she mocked the stupidity of proclaiming your pronouns on twitter... yea most people think thats dumb.
she was against masks... yea most people dont like masks and want them gone as soon as possible plus the scientists contradicted themselves on mask use numerous times fueling debate nationwide.
she used nazis/jews in a historical context to make a point that isnt controversial, to not turn on your neighbors... again using that reference is something many many do.

Well, there was the rangers series which she might have become a regular on.

Gina is of the class of athletes-turned-actors who become actors because of their physical prowess (and celebrity they had in their field). They come from football, wrestling, martial arts, etc... They don't always make for the best actors since they weren't trained in acting. Many just stay in the background of the cast until their role calls from them to do something physical.

They can become popular for their action genre (like Arnie) while never doing anything critically acclaimed for acting. Some wind up having a knack for some dramatic or comedic range. Many remain quite wooden.

They did? I never saw anything. Everyone I watched online never said anything. Must’ve been a very, VERY, small group. So small even I wouldn’t see it.
It was there. It never got legs, but there were plenty of "fans" claiming forced diversity over nearly every female character in the show.
