As of today - two days after release - the official Star Wars YT post of this trailer only has 8.6M views. If you’re into inferring box office from that sort of thing.
There's a funny video posted this week mentioning this Mando issue by a YouTuber (ManCarryingThing).
It's called "Disney Right Now".

I won't share it here due to also making political references to stuff going on with ABC.

S3 was so bad it may have already tanked this film
I have to say that could be right. or at least it's could make it an uphill battle. And the lackluster first trailer didn't seem to impress anyone and that doesn't help. I think the first story trailer could be critical. It very well could decide the, I gotta see this on the big screen. Or, meh I'll just wait for it to hit D+.

Your opinion isn't fact for all people. IMDB scores show it was well received (except the Jack Black episode).

S3.E1 ∙ Chapter 17: The Apostate = 7.4/10

S3.E2 ∙ Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore = 8.2/10

S3.E3 ∙ Chapter 19: The Convert = 7.0/10

S3.E4 ∙ Chapter 20: The Foundling = 7.6/10

S3.E5 ∙ Chapter 21: The Pirate = 8.1/10

S3.E6 ∙ Chapter 22: Guns for Hire = 6.4/10

S3.E7 ∙ Chapter 23: The Spies = 8.7/10

S3.E8 ∙ Chapter 24: The Return = 8.4/10

Audiences have really responded well to the familiar later, versus original content.

Moana 2 and Lilo & Stitch I thought were pretty mediocre and audiences came out in droves.

I'm not super excited for more of the same when it comes to The Mandalorian and Grogu but we know what we're getting. If you liked the series for the most part, it's a safe movie to go to, and that seems to be a draw for a lot of people.

S3 was bad. I don't care what the IMDB scores are. The ending was not great either and didn't leave many people wanting more.

The question isn't about the fans who watched the show, its how the general public will respond to it.
This is true and I think Disney knows it as well. It's probably no coincidence that this trailer is a grogu highlight real. Focus on the thing that became a craze with tons of people who couldn't give 2 poops about star wars. They absolutely need these people showing up. But I'm not sure they are real confident about the core fans.

Yes, you lean into the cute aspect of it for general audiences. We'll see what the actual full trailer holds, and I suspect it to be released in-front of Avatar. That one I expect to be more like the one shown at Celebration which was more for the fans.

But I'm not sure they are real confident about the core fans.
Maybe, but I suspect FOMO will pull too hard on many once its released and they'll end up seeing it anyways.

That's why I've been saying there's a lot of weight on that full trailer. We all know they've lost a portion of the core fans and they won't pay to see this no matter what. I'd say the majority of the core fans could go either way as long as what they see looks good. And if it is good and reviews are really positive, it stands a good chance.

Anyone want to break it to him that none of that means anything?
