The Mandalorian & Grogu (Lucasfilm - 2026 Theatrical)

Ah yes, the sacred 2.5× budget rule, declared by the internet’s premier cinema savant, shouting ‘that’s final’ like a keyboard warrior with Excel open. Cute, but reality (marketing, distribution costs, Disney’s accountants. etc) might have other things that factor in. $500M WW isn’t automatically a hit. And just because you "say it". It doesn't "make it so".

Remember this guy?

He made ~$300 Million. And lost ~$200 Million. That was 13 years ago. Adjust it for inflation and all the sudden your sure fire number of $500 Million doesn't seem to be as can't miss as you make it out to be. Now does it? Plug that into your spreadsheet.
Yeah, because the movie cost $250M to make.

Which The Mandalorian & Grogu doesn’t as it cost, again, $144.65-$166.4M to make.

Stop it.

Really STOP.

It WILL be successful with $500M WW on that budget.

Add that to your spreadsheet.

And they still have 8 months to make the movie look better.

And Reshoots won't factor into that a bit? I'm giving you an out. Since you don't seem inclined to take it. Let's go to the next batter in the line-up:

Stop.

Really, STAHP.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will likely not have any reshoots, because unlike Solo, it didn’t change directors in the midst of a troubled production and it had no troubled production like Solo did. Which is why Solo ended up costing $275M to make.

So, they won’t factor into them because they won’t have any to do.

Listen here, you deaf ape.

The Marvels and Solo are not going to be the signs of the same fate Mando & Grogu will fare.

Those two movies and John Carter had over-inflated budgets because of reshoots and change in directors.

Mando & Grogu will not flop and be a hit on the budget it has with $500M WW.

Okay.

Get that through your fu—ing skull.

You’re obviously not as smart as you or most others in these forums who thinks they know better seem.

In defense of some here, it was reported earlier this year that because of the recent increase in California's Film Tax credit Mando/Grogu is currently set at a budget of $166.4M. Making it one of the cheapest SW movies in the modern era.

Now with reshoots (if any) we don't know what that will do. But at the very least its starting off as a more modest budget for a blockbuster.

We'll see how things go between now and its release date next summer.
