I think most generally agree what happened there. George LOVES money…or did back then and seems to regret it some now…there was no creative/sane pushback as their was on the OT…McCallum was so much a yes man he dumped gasoline on the fire…and George learned that the label wasn’t solely enough to push the product. But he benefited from the legend…what Disney has done is repeat the SAME mistake whole heartedly. It’s inexcusable.Agree, but then he put out the prequals that made the Ewoks look mature. He also went back and defiled the originals with that ridiculous and childish special edition. I don't think George even understood why people loved the originals so much and Disney, unfortunately, just took the direction he was already taking it and ran with it.
It’s what happens where you miss. The ire tends to be placed on the highest level of ladder that people can find.I think I am misunderstanding your point on this one as I see people try to cram their grievances into any movie that does poorly.
When the last Johnson was released…it was an obvious disaster. I know there are like 8 people still around here that don’t believe it…but the record is very clear now. I’m not as engaged (and I’m old now) with Star Wars fandom as I once was (YUGE)…but quick survey of the land shows most of the hate is reserved for Kennedy and Disney. I think that’s wrong…it should go ABOVE Kennedy…cause the screw ups were obviously corporate and deliberate…but fans gonna fan. So Johnson does get That much of the overall flak.
And just as a reminder…when it came out and I made it about 2/3 of the way through it…it was DOA. If you can’t keep me…it ain’t working. And I was scoffed…on this very forum…as being a doomsday “countered” by terrible reviews and box office Totals.
How’s that look now? To make a good recipe…you gotta cook it for awhile and then see how it tastes.
