The Lovers, The Dreamers, and MJ

Hi everyone!

I was all reading to start chatting with everyone when I saw mention of new Lizzy pictures, so I had to go in search of them......it took me awhile, but they were so cute! With each set of pictures she looks more and more like a little girl and less and less baby. So beautiful Jess!

I have to say that I enjoy the Baby Einstein series and plan on buying them for my new nephew.

We were at a Halloween party at a friends house and their little boy (just over 1 year old) was just into everything.....his mom showed him the baby Einstein DVD and he got so excited. He was very interested in what was going on. She is a very hands on, stay at home mom, but it served a great purpose to entertain him and teach him something.

Actually, i beg to differ... You really have to understand child physioligy and their learning style. Having something repeated ad nauseum is actually the best way for them to absorb things. I just wish it was more from parent-child interaction, than TV viewings, but the principle's the same.
But does the "ad nauseum" need to be through the same medium?
I advocate variety of mediums for the same message.
Variety is the spice of life. :lookaroun

See! Bunny agrees!

And that makes is the truth! :lookaroun

Seriously, I expected college to be this land of wonder, where everyone was mature and ther wasn't the pettyness I saw in high school... sadly I was disappoited. Then I expected the same thing from a job... that was marginally better, but still. It's human nature, I guess.

I advocate variety, as you can see.
It's the spice of life. :lookaroun

Actually, it's the best if it's the exact same medium. If you read a kid a book, over and over as they want you to, they actually pick up on rhythems and the cadences in your voice. It's the repetition of familiar material that really drives it home. You've got to realize that one viewing isn't nearly enough for someone that young. They simply don't have the capacity you do for retaining the info.

But how much faith can we place in products designed for profit to educate or children? While I do not find inherent issues in Baby Einstein-type products, it seems unwise that [some] parents seem to believe their own responsibly of educating their child may be abated through the use of non-interactive (by nature, movies and television cannot interact with a child in the sense than a human can) consumer products?
