I think the next thing to be updated will probably be the film.

If they do change the film, I think they should keep the ending the same (or at least the idea of the ending). I just like the way it zooms around the base & then it stops on the hydrolators with the shot fading away to a real shot of the hydrolators.

The last time I was down there, there were no such holograms. And yes, I have been down there recently. Leaks don't seem to be a problem from what I've seen and heard from my sources.

Do you mean you have been down there, seen the decommissioned seacabs and not taken any pictures for the wondering public. For Shame! LOL
Is it true that the cabs had junk on them. Did they look trashed or bad. Was there anything new on/with them. I must know!!!!!!! <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Right, as the nearly recent photos had shown, the cabs are still there and in perfect shape. I wonder if since the ride shutdown, what happened to the area that you could walk along with the cabs . Maybe construction is in place, like how the chambers of TLS were walled off and worked on during park hours...

They need to buy some more fish and sea life and put in those tanks. Reworking and expanding some of the coral reefs would help too. The tanks just look soooooo empty.

They seem to be on the right track with changes to this pavilion. But it's time for the next piece of the update - everything seems a bit disjointed right now. Hopefully the next change will be to the queue area and film. I think the first chamber (the round room after the entrance queue and before the briefing) should become the new queue. Add a new (mandatory) briefing film that is maybe 5 mins instead of 7. Turn the existing queue into a mini museum about the history of sea exploration that people can wander through before lining up in the round room.

After these changes more updates inside Sea Base and reopening the sea cabs could take place.

my understanding was the seacabs were shut down due to homeland security issues, mainly a small device could cause terrible damage with high life lose potential from flooding of the tubes if they were compromised.

A small device could cause terrible damage almost anywhere at Disney.

Disney used to tout (back in the mid 90s) that they could evacuate all of the water out of The Living Seas in 2 minutes if need be. This was a requirement of the insurance number crunchers who were afraid the pressure of the water would just pop one of the panels out into a show area (of course "they" never explained where all the water would go. Sure would make for an interesting afternoon at the bus stops.)

True, but as said, a small device could do damage anywhere in Disney.
Plus, any item with a high pitched frequency emitting system could crack and/or break the glass panels, flooding the entire building and possibly the entire section of the park. This could cause a massive flooding of the park, and possibly worse...

Maybe they could project images on the walls of the tunnel that made it appear as if we were traveling along the East Australian Current like th emovie ; )

Homeland security wpuldn't cause the closure of a ride in 1994. We've only been paranoid in the last few years.

The seacabs don't have doors - this is a major problem. If they get doors or the company feels the general public just might behave, it might reopen.

Dude,
Respectfully:
• The “glass” is plexi, and plexi that thick will stop a bullet (& yes I know there is pressure behind it, but it still would take an explosion to quickly bring one of those sheets down
• The “high frequency” thing is complete James Bond
• That amount of water would disapate rather quickly if let loose from the tank, I’m not saying it wouldn’t be a mess and a hassle, but it wouldn’t flood the Land or Spaceship Earth.

I think the simple answer on the Living Seas is it's too expensive to staff the SeaCabs when all they did was give you a short ride with a lower level view (below the area that lets you walk out into the viewing in the round) and they then dumped you out in the same place you are today.

Not so, think of it like a higher ptiched dog whistle. Have you ever noticed that when you charge a lithium battery (easpecially in a PSP), that that battery emits a high frequency, high pitched sound that if louder or higher pitched, I believe could break glass. As cool as the thought of a James Bond Gadget being used in real life, very cool, but not in this case...

According to Screamscape.com (which I know not to always trust), a possible closing of the Living Seas pavillion is set for August with a reopening in April 2006. This rumor implied that the gutting of the sea cabs and demolition of old show to add a new attraction. Can anyone confirm that? What is everyone's thoughts on this?

After spending several million on the recent "Nemo" upgrades, I find it hard to believe they'd shut down the entire pavillion.

If they were to re-do the "front" section of the pavillion (queue, theaters, SeaCabs), I think they'd find a way to keep the "back" section open--- either by routing people through the exits, or doing the work in phases so they can still allow guests to flow through the building. Either way, it would be a crowd control nightmare-- but I'm sure they could do it.
