The little things you notice...

Sometimes the most magical moments in WDW come from a chance sighting of something cool or unnoticed by everyone but you. A simple piece of decoration that shows a level of detail unparrelled, or maybe just a hidden mickey that you think you're the first to discover...

What do you enjoy at the park? Are there any things that you think "that's mine". As simple or stupid as it may seem, is there something that your memories continually drift to?

I'm very careful when I'm there to try to take in as much as possible. I'll sometimes sit and admire the architecture, the landscaping, the sounds or just kids reactions to the wonder that is Disney. Sometimes there is so much more to see if you just open your eyes. (Does that make sense?) I used to be much more caught up in running from ride to ride, that I missed out on the small subtleties, but now I try to take in other aspects of the parks. I can't wait til we have kids so that I can see it through a childs eyes again.

Something that's very insignificant that I noticed aboot WDW was the plastic spoons.

Something that's very insignificant that I noticed aboot WDW was the plastic spoons. Yes, how stupid but a few years back all the ice cream stands and counters had these purple plastic spoons that would change color to pink (or was it the other way around) when they got cold. I thought that this was the coolest and is one of the reasons why WDW is so magical and unique. SO much detail, but the spoons soon disappeared, that must have been the year Al took over as WDW manager.

Every year we take a picture by the little flower cart in the alley off of Main Street. It's alway quiet yet beautiful. I hope they keep it around. I think that's the area that's under refurbishment now.

One of the details that always impresses me is the character topiary throughout the property.

Moreover, no matter where you are in WDW, there are thousands of subtleties within the decor of each theme which influence our overall experience. Whether it's the elegance of the Grand Floridian Lobby or the Mexican side of Pecos Bill's cafe, Disney has taken 'ambiance' to the 'N'th degree. This is the magic of Disney.:)

I think of all the very small details from ToT, like the eagle in the lobby and stuff like that. I remember all the queues from the rides, like Splash Mountain.

There's a great little seating area over in Liverty Square which is great. The Cinderella fountain is always quiet...And i used to adore the Christmas town over in MGM. Who would think it could feel like Christmas in the middle of summer?? I'm also with Brett on this one. I always like to really pay attention while I'm in line, sometimes the line area is as much fun as the ride itself!!

Details!

I definately agree with the very careful details that could be overlooked. In Tower of Terror there is a felt boad with the replaceable letters which record the current tennants of the hotel. Some of the letters were missing. I thought "If they really did a good job, those letters will be laying in the bottom of the glass case." So I worked my way over and all the missing letters were laying there at the bottom.

I also love the steady polishing of the last gold bat in the Haunted Mansion queue where the line turns toward the doombuggies. That thing gets smaller and smoother every visit because everyone grabs it as they go by. I saw the one at Disneyland. It was even smaller, almost no head left!

I guess I'm amused by the small stuff.

the things that i notice the most is the climate change, i love the warm tropical climate, i also love seeing the palm trees and all the other tropical plants, i love all the lizards and frogs walking around the resort in and out of the bushes. People that live in florida, or in the south that post on this board probly dont feel that way, but if your from the north you notice all that.
Ever scince i was a little kid going to disneyworld i always notitced a ditinct smell entering some of the rides, i dont know what it is, but its almost like a musty type smell, i noticed it the most in spaceship earth, dreamflight, hoizons, and world of motion, call me crazy but thats the little thing i noticed.

and no im not on drugs, i really do smell this, to this day!!!!!!!!!

I love the landscaping and particularly the way there is so much thought goes into something that not everyone will notice. When we were in EPCOT last year, just near to Test Track and the restrooms, there was a little garden area which looked like it had been designed for butterflies (I may be wrong about this, but thats what it looked like). The point I am making here is the fact that it is right near to probably the busiest pavillion in the park and, just sat there was this lovely little garden, and we where the only people in it.

What is really cool about the fallen letters, is that they spell out "EVIL TOWER".

I alway remember the smells of WDW. Whether it be walking into a restaurant, walking by a restaurant or stand, going on spaceship earth or other rides, the flowers in the summer, the suntan smell at the pools, and even the stinky smell of the fumes from the buses. These are things I notice that are probably not noticeable to most people. I also love all the architectual designs of all the buildings and structures.

One of the reasons I fell in love with Disneyworld was the details. When I first started to go yearly I was 17 and paying my own way from then on. One of the details I was impressed was the amount of handicap accessibility and 20 years ago we weren't as politically correct of rather aware of it back then. Another little detail was catching the guy riding the four wheeler smoothing the sand every morning as I rode the monorail. The landscaping is gorgeous and always has been. My mom has always said that Walt thought of just about everything when he designed WDW.

Like Ariel, we like those fountains you just "happen upon" as you're wandering through the parks. Another of our favorite spots is the wishing well (with Cinderella's mice sitting on it) along the side path leading up to the castle (on the Tomorrowland side). We "discovered" it shortly after it was installed and get a picture there every time. Apparently it's a good place for filming a TV commercial too!:) Unfortunately, many of these quiet out-of-the-way places are being made into smoking areas and so are not quite as enjoyable.

I love the Rome part of Spaceship Earth where you can smell the smoke from the fire!! It doesn't smell that much like smoke, but it has the most distinct smell. I'm not officially at WDW until I smell the smoke from SE!!
