The new Little Mermaid DVD has a whole section on disc 2 about the ride. It is interactive, you can see the ride with commentary by the imagineers or without, with storyboards, with miniature mock-up model, and floorplan tracker. We watched it yesterday. I wonder if that might be going into the old 20,000 leagues spot eventually.

Thats pretty sweet... did they mention at all where would they have put it?

It was originally designed to go into FantasyLand in Paris. But when the park eventually didn't achieve it's guest numbers and financial expectations it was unfortunately scrapped :brick: . But as they say "At Imagineering good ideas Never die." So maybe, hopefully one day this amazing attraction will finally see the light of day, in some form or another

That ride looks fun!
I would like to see that ride go where 20,000 leagues was.

So sad... less than a week old and already pirated on YouTube.

At least when Google take over it`ll be regulated.

Incidentally, this attraction was also to have gone into WDWs Magic Kingdom between Starland and 20k.

Awesome! I'm more amazed at the computer model than the fact they havn't made it yet. Really cool video. Only one question, where is the track? I'm assuming its overhead like on Peter Pan's Flight?

Yes, overhead track like PP. They mentioned that in the ride-through on the DVD.

Yes. I think it would be a great addition there, and make the show building somewhat "on-stage" (themed, of course) so that anything behind it would truly feel separated (i.e. a large mountain). I do wish part of the lagoon had remained, though. Having the entry be over water would be a very cool effect. Of course, lagoons can always be rebuilt, I guess! :p

That was really great! I hope that ride someday makes it into a park somewhere. Orlando? Anaheim? Tokyo? Hong Kong? Shanghai? It's such a popular movie, I'm sure they'll want to include this ride concept into a park at some point.

God bless YouTube!

Interesting; I think kids would love it. The neatest effect was the feeling of being underwater.. you know they could pull that off in real life, too.

What the heck? Since when did imagineers decide it was ok to just mix the order up of all the scenes?

We went from the ship being in a storm and destroyed to ariel watching eric on the ship. Then at the end we saw huge Ursela and then we went to "kiss the girl"

If this was gonna be the finalized version I am glad it was scrapped.

On the ride with an imagineer version on the DVD they explain that it was done this way because you have to end an attraction on a high note and they decided to use kiss the girl because it is a well known song. And the first scene is used to give time to your eyes to adjust to the darkness of the ride.....then the story begins.

I would love to see this ride be built!

I do agree that that felt a bit disjointed. I think having the climactic version of "Part of Your World" would have worked as an ending (sort of Snow White-esque with Ariel and Eric at the castle or on the ship). But, I still think it was effective overall.
