I'm just going to go ahead and add that I think it's an awesome idea as well. Props to maybe adding more dark rides!

I was watching The Disneyland Story this morning, and I think they said this (or something like this) was an "upcoming attraction" scheduled to open in 1993.

Speaking of Disney specials, I also watched the WDW 20th birthday special hosted by John Lithgow, which was filmed while they were building Sunset Blvd. in the Studios and they mentioned the upcoming Tower of Terror, and rather than RnRC, a Roger Rabbit themed crazy bus ride through Toontown.
As much as I love RnRC I think that bus ride would have been awesome.
Then again, I'm easy to please :king:

Indeed. Baby Hermans Runaway Baby Buggy Ride, the Toontown Trolley, an outdoor `woodie` Rollercoaster (all in Roger Rabbits Hollywood), Mickeys Movieland with the Hyperion Studios, and D ick Traceys Crimestoppers EMV ride were all originally planned for Sunset.

Would it kill them to make similar DVDs for all the extinct attractions?

Or better yet, a simulated computer environment, like a game, where you could "ride" the rides at say, Epcot circa 1982-93?

It probably would. It`d be seen as an admission the attractions were very popular, and leave the company open to all sorts of questioning.

That`s why there was so much shock around the web when TLM Dark Ride video appeared.

Not necessarily. They did air "Captain EO" on MTV once about 7 years or so ago, and the Disney Channel ran "America the Beautiful" from time to time. I'm guessing it's more a question of how much money do they think they'd make from it...how profitable is it to put something like that together? My guess is they've filmed almost every attraction from stem to stern before gutting them just as a matter of historical reference (and to use on their anniversary-type TV specials), and could put together some amazing DVDs showing Martin-esque videos about the attractions from concept to reality. I know that's a Disney Treasures collection I've been hoping for for awhile. But, I fear that they may be a long time in coming...probably at the same time as "Song of the South."

Indeed. Captain EO was a media event, with Spielberg, Lucas, Jackson and Coppola involved. I dare say the transmission had more to do with the original video for Another Part of Me being all 2D footage from the film, before it got replaced with the generic live footage from Jacksons Wembley gigs - hence the MTV connection.

America the Beautiful was edited (front screen only) as a schools education resource. We both know how Disney love to record everything for posterity - and have both seen some pretty startling results :D

Believe me, nothing would give me more pleasure than seeing my work done with the proper resources. So long as they begin with Horizons!

I don't think I have ever seen Little Mermaid all the way through. I know the basic plot line, but I have to say that not seeing the video, a lot of those scenes just didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I like the idea of the ride - going underwater, etc., but I think they got too tied up with the movie, and if you haven't seen that then the ride just looks jumbled.

Some potentially good news: I was just looking inside one of the Walt Disney Legacy Collections I got for Christmas, and one of the upcoming titles listed is Disneyland: Secrets, Stories, and Magic. Though I'm guessing it was the DVD that was supposed to come out over a year ago, hopefully it will have some great old Disneyland footage (and *cross my fingers* a ride-through or two of some attractions no longer around). It's not Disney World, but it's a hopeful start. Maybe they'll eventually do one of each Park.

1st Nemo needs to go and Tarzan has to come back.
Ariel's Grotto and Pooh's Playful spot should pack their things and 20k should come back.

That ride looks fun!
I would like to see that ride go where 20,000 leagues was.

That's what I was thinking! It would be perfect, and getting rid of the pooh spot. Yes, its a great place for kids to loose all of the energy but there is toontown with the Donald thing and Ariel's Grotto...

PERFECT SPOT! I WOULD ONLY HOPE! :)

i just have to re-post my comment. what do you think?

i really think that they should take out the poohs playful spot and put in the little mermaid ride i mean yes the playground is fun and cute but not many people going to disney are saying "we must go to the playful spot" ya know? people however would say "oh yeah i hope the new mermaid ride is open when we get there" just my two cents.
